A friend took me to a clam shack on cape cod and said we were going to eat fried clams

The idea seemed revolting but I tried it

    I love the things

I used to get clam strips at Ho Jo's when my parents took me there as a kid!

That might have been the place. I just remember orange seats or benches, fried clam strips, and lots of cocktail sauce

I have vague memories, but the orange benches sounds about right. Although, I think it was tarter sauce for me.

Sadly, it’s probably a good thing. Over the years I’ve revisited some of the foods holding fond childhood memories. Pretty much without fail they’ve all been terrible.

    Sorry, but thanks for that.

Red Lobster still offers them as part of some of there platters, but you are correct. They are disappearing from menus.

    Only related because of clams

growing up on the bay you could go to some restaurants and gut buckets of steamers(some type of clam with paper thin shell)for $2. Outside of being sold at a couple restaurants they were also frequently sold as bait. The last time I was home I stopped into one of those restaurants. Apparently that bait has now turned into some freaking delicacy. A dozen of them is now $20+. They went from several dozen for $2 to a hell no price.

York steak house in the Millcreek Mall in Erie as a kid. Those were my absolute favorite steak tips. $2 allowance buy a 3 pack strip of baseball cards at KB toys for $1.99.

You never know what's going to take off and become in demand. Once something gets popular, the price goes through the roof.

Players have been drinking out of them and giving their kids baths in them for decades!

    Nobody is safe!
