The Steelers played a game kinda like that in Foxboro in 96 or 97 I think. It was the first time I had seen them use one of the sideline cameras as it's primary camera until the overhead provided a clear picture.

Real men play outdoors so I understand where you are coming from

All domed stadiums should have their roofs removed

    Seriously

I had a friend who had a friend who had an orangutan who would go get beers and open them and would bring one for himself

If I was running Building Codes, only retractable roof stadiums would be allowed.

I remember it well. I was watching with Eagle fans and they were screaming it was unfair. I thought game should have been re-scheduled.

Do you remember the Civic Arena in Pittsburgh? I think that was retractable??? Of course they don't play football there. Don't play anything there anymore;)

No, I am not familiar with it, but I don't see why that would be roof's fault.

Fault? No idea what you are talking about. I was just mentioning Pittsburgh had a retractable roof arena.

Oh no. Obviously you are not from Pittsburgh. It is where the Pipers (our ABA basketball team and dammit we won a title;)) and Penguins played for years until they blew it up and built new one.

I remember that one. It might have even been a playoff game IIRC. I think it might have been Leon Searcy that landed a pick 6 off Bledsoe that won the game for the Steelers. Someone will correct me with the right info, getting older sucks for the memory.

Well…since Searcy was an offensive lineman I doubt it was him, lol.

But I feel your pain on the memory lapses as we age. :thumbs up:

    .

Since Leon Searcy was an offensive lineman, I doubt he pick 6’d Bledsoe. But I vaguely remember a fog game in NE

It might have been Kirkland. I am looking for it on Youtube now.

Where is S.T.D when you need him?

My brothers saw Pink Floyd there back in the early 70’s and when they played Breathe the roof started opening and remained open for the rest of the show. I’ve heard that story probably a 100 times cause my one brother loved to repeat himself as if I never heard the story before. They ended up walking back home which was about 10 miles.

That roof was designed to be operable and was designed to be built out of lightweight aluminum

The steelworkers threw a hissy fit and forced it to be made out of steel

It was so heavy when they opened it it wouldn’t close easily and cost a fortune to make weather tight again

    So they quit opening it

Thanks Pittsburgh steel unions just one of the many ways you screwed Pittsburgh

And we can all be thankful you are not in charge of anything as important as life safety

Along with anyone who thinks the game should/could have been played yesterday
