The Jaguars' win over the Panthers broke a four-game losing streak. They are playing poorly. Also, Lawrence is either going to miss the game or try to play through an injured throwing shoulder. It's not likely, but it is possible the Titans beat the Jaguars. The last time the Steelers did get the help they need to sneak into the playoffs, it was the 2-14 Jaguars knocking off the Colts to help Pittsburgh get in, so stuff can happen.

That said, I'm still expecting the most Tomlin result ever, rallying to go 10-7 and still missing the playoffs.

Maybe not, but the Dolphins are very beat up and some of those guys aren't coming back this season. If they can get Fitzpatrick, Kazee, and Roberts back, they might be able to slow Miami down enough to stay in the game. Of course, that assumes they win and get help this week. .

He practiced Thursday, but was limited. I think he will try to gut it out, but he's not going to be close to 100 percent.

    NFL.com says this today:
The Steelers also can lose and get in if these three things also happen: Jacksonville and Denver winning, plus Texans-Colts not ending in a tie.

That can't be true. How could Jax winning help us? Why would the Denver game matter? Head hurts.

What I read is that the Jags have to lose and the Broncos win for the Steelers to get the 7 seed if we lose today. The reasoning was all 3 teams would be 9-8. Even though the Jaguars beat us that goes out the window when more than 2 teams are tied. The next tie breaker is conference record in which the Jags and us are tied and a game better than the Broncos. The next tie breaker is strength of victory, that gives us the tiebreaker over Jacksonville. Our win over the Ravens who has the best record in the NFL would clinch the last playoff spot. Also beating the Browns who have an 11-5 record certainly helps.

So confusing, it makes it look like the Steelers have a more likely path to the playoffs if they lose today and Jax wins tomorrow. That dog don't hunt for me. He be shakin his head....

Jags lose + Broncos win + Colts/Texans dont end in a tie, is the correct scenario if the Steelers lose

It would actually be a 4-way tie. Steelers, Jags, Broncos, and the Colts/Texans loser

Correct, I forgot to list the Colts/Texans loser. The result would be the same though Steelers get the last playoff spot because of strength of victory record. Beating the Ravens and Browns earlier in the year would be the difference.

The tiebreaker the Steelers win is strength of schedule, Not strength of victory.

dumb it down for me - do I want the Jax to win or lose tomorrow? I want them to lose if we win and I want them to win if we lose?

Fair is foul, and foul, fair

Steelers win.. Jags lose, but not necessary if Bills lose or Colts/Texans tie

Steelers lose.. Jags must lose + Denver win + Colts/Texans dont tied

Was pretty sure way things were going this was going to be a meaningless game for us. Now should we win I will stay up as long as a tie is possible in the night game. Man I'd love going to bed at midnight happy as a clam.

Good one! We are all talking about winning and what happens or losing and what happens but no one thought of a tie. We only want one tie today at sometime around midnight.
