True, and I think Mitch should be cut, however, he accounted for almost as many TDs as Kenny had in the season in just 2.5 games. Admittedly, I would have to look it up but I think Mitch had three passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown at least. Kenny had only six passing touchdowns all season if I remember correctly.

Turnovers are key to winning, but you also have to be able to score and push the ball down the field.

One thing I have seen time and time again in most sports. Great players in key positions make for great HC's.

Two easy examples: Ben R for Mike and Tom B for Bill.

Are the Dodgers in the hunt year after year because of their amazing Coach or the amazing dollar?

According to STD Tomlin is blameless and has 0 responsibility within the organization. So I must ask what exactly do you do here?

I have been on the fence about MT for a few years. After his last extension i just held out because the team is not going to move on after re-signing him, its not about one game or one season, it is about a continuing pathetic display of both on and off field things that say it is time for change. It is not like the chargers firing Marty S. after a 14-2 season, this team has a hard time winning at home against losing teams. King (from Sports Illustrated fame) was on Dan Patrick a few weeks ago commentating on the fire MT spreading throughout Steeler nation. He ranted why, all the man does is win!.. Really, when? He may be a good coach, hell a great coach, but every person has there day. To me it is not even about making the play offs or wins, having a winning record hides a lot of issues, it is about the total performance and lack of development in all departments, quite frankly we suck, the players and lower level coach's no doubt share their responsibility, but having watched the same outcome for years it shows from the top..and we need change.

Tomlin is not a bad coach, but he is not a good one either. His weaknesses of not being X’s and O’s Coach (no coaching tree), not teaching good fundamentals like Noll, playing favorites in hiring and retaining players (Najee Harris, Harvin) tolerating cancerous behavior has an accumulative affect over the years. His strength is that he knows right buttons to push for some of today’s players so they give good efforts. Other coaches may not have that ability. Sum total of all this is that he will win games, but will always lose games to inferior teams, and also get exposed in playoffs if he makes it. He is stale. Time for him to go to perhaps the Jets and make them a .500 team.

If he's responsible for nothing, he's probably just a chearleader at 10 million a year

We've been hearing the cases for getting rid of Tomlin for quite some time. I'm my opinion, some of those reasons are pretty solid.
I know there are still those who think keeping Tomlin is the right move and that's fine but what I'm not hearing is why he is still right for the job. So far, the most widely used reason for keeping Tomlin is because "it could always be worse" or "be careful what you wish for". I'm no business major but I'm not sure that's solid reasoning for keeping the man you expect to lead your billion dollar franchise.

There are certainly things that Tomlin does well and for the most part, those qualities could gloss over his shortcomings. Not anymore, as far as I'm concerned.

Art II is weak and doesn't want to upset the apple cart(green backs) so unfortunately I believe Ol Popcorn will get a contract extension. A mistake yes but just get used to it. Its already been put out there by Mike Florio that he will get an extension. Cowher got one after a losing season.

Hopefully they can get an Innovative Offensive Coordinator to come in and make this offense respectable in every contest having complete autonomy and bringing in his own staff and not having assistants here being forced to stay. Also keeping Popcorn at bay.

Sorry but i'm not in favor of them retaining puppet Austin either.

To much power was given to Tomlin it needs to be scaled back.

Here is my take on Tomlin.

Up to this year I have supported Tomlin, and I hate to say it that I always felt happy enough each season that we were getting more wins then losses every year.

but something changed with me this year and being mediocre just isn’t cutting it anymore. I want playoffs and playoff wins.

I want every week to be like this week and we play Pittsburgh football.

I have placed blame on MT for the actions of GP and DJ. But honestly where is our WR coaches and offensive coordinators in dealing with the two mentioned? Is the blame solely on MT? In a way it is because he should get onto the other coaches not doing their jobs.

my biggest beef with MT is the lack of coaching tree under him, I do think he has a say in who he brings in or let’s stay. I’m not even gonna make a big stink over him not knowing MR could light it up. Because honestly it’s only been one game, MR could totally end up regressing next week. MR had nothing to lose, he was auditioning this weekend and fingers crossed he keeps it up.

in my honest opinion, I think we have the talent to be a top tier team. Yes even on offense. The injuries on defense has played a big factor on the outcome of this season. I mean seriously when you have someone coming from their couch a few weeks ago and having the green dot.

Bottom line is MT is a good coach, but in order for him to be Great, we need to get known coordinators in that will make a difference. I’d even be okay with Austin staying as the DC because of the significant injuries the past 2 seasons, however he would be on a short leash.

I’m hoping that with KP sitting and watching that maybe it has helped his mental part of the game. Maybe seeing MR light it up will put a fire under his butt.

He's the head coach. He's responsible for the success and failures of the team.

He's responsible for a serious lack of playoff success despite an incredible amount of talent over the years.

So no, I'm not wrong. We won't win anything with him.

I think Tomlin is a good coach. I think anyone who argues the contrary does't want to accept facts. He's won...a lot - doesn't mean you have to like him...but his results are his results. And they're better than most anyone coaching in the NFL with the exception of those named Bill and Andy. Even the current geniuses (McVay and Shanahan) have had down years. And their down years worse than any that Tomlin has had. With that you probably think I'm for keeping Tomlin...I'm in the middle. I think whether with the Steelers or else where, he'll win again. Why? Because his resume suggests he will. Past performance is the best indicator of future performance. It's why Hiring managers want to see a resume and references. And Tomlin's resume is top tier. Will he win another SB...this is probably more tied to the QB he eventually has more so than his ability to win as a coach..and there's the rub for me.

I don't want Tomlin gone because I think he can't coach...nothing in his 17 years as HC would suggest that to anyone who isn't blind or dumb. However, this is an offensive and QB driven league. If you have an elite QB you got a chance...if you don't...you basically have little chance to win an SB. So for me...the development of a franchise QB is the most critical piece of who our HC should be going forward. And it's the one thing Tomlin doesn't have on his resume...and the weakest aspect of his coaching, in my opinion, is building an offense or hiring offensive staff.

For that reason I'd be comfortable seeing him go. Not because I think he's a bad coach. But because I think having an offensive minded coach to develop the next franchise QB is key to the steelers winning another SB and being relevant in our division.

If Tomlin does stay, I won't be overly disappointed so long as we hire a great young OC. I'd like to shake the Shanahan tree for that...time will tell.

For the comparison between Tomlin and Shanahan and McVay, Tomlin has a bigger floor but Shanahan and McVay has a bigger ceiling than Tomlin right now....I prefer the ceiling than the floor!

It's also completely frustrating to see the Steelers only play great when they have their back against the wall and sometimes it's too late and we miss the playoffs because of that.

Tomlin is the greatest coach in the league. Innovative and skilled at preparing the team to play. Knows how to challenge! Is on top of every aspect of this team's performance. We need to be sure he's here for another 17 years! Fight me!!!!!
