And yes I can live with one or 2 penalties per game by him when in every other snap he is great

Just so people don't misunderstand his assignment there.

    Yep.

Have Joey man on man. Zone is needed too but there are too many moving parts for that coverage to fully work. Having JPJ box opposing WRs into a pulp is paramount.

I thought it was fairly obvious. He was in zone, and passed it off. I Love Him, but He must watch his grabbing....other than that....I'm very pleased with the pick.

    Yeah...

Second in the league regarding penalties as a whole. As I said though, not too concerned with it currently. 2024 will be different if this carries over.

He has certainly played up to his draft selection. Young
players will make mistakes at every position, take your lumps
and learn from them. I am real happy with our draft selections.

So far the last draft was pretty good, but we won't truly know for awhile.

We CAN live with 1 or two penalties a game

But we should not HAVE to

He will get better, and from what I have seen....He has. It's baby steps, but He has been less grabby, and has tackled better.

I get the problem with the penalties but I don’t remember any shut down corner who didn’t run the PI gauntlet. It’s one of the ways they shut receivers down, after all.

I recall the Legion of Boom were awful for it, but it was hardly ever called.

For me, he has outplayed it. Joey Porter Jr had no business being available, at all, in the second round. That doesn't matter anymore for what's done is done but the fact that the Steelers nabbed a corner with All Pro potential is nothing short of highway robbery.

Step number one is returning Broderick Jones Jr to his natural position at Left Tackle!!

That way, the team won't have another "Kevin Dotson" again!! :herewego:

It seams with corners that once you have the rep as a great corner Revis, Ramsey, Sherman, you can grab and hand fight as much as you want and get away with it.

It is something special to see Porter playing as well as he has this early.

I think this last draft was very good Porter, Benton , Jones and Washington all contributing.

I really admired Dick LeBeau but my only problem with him was a rookie would almost never see the field in yr 1 , special teams in yr 2 , spot starts as nickel or dime yr 3
    promising starter yr 4 .

Gone as a free agent yr 5.

It makes perfect sense to play Porter now he is our best corner period.

You forgot Herbig, most pleasant surprise for me. We have to find playing
    time for him.

    I do sir

Proper coaching and a desire to improve his game and he can eliminate the unnecessary handsy penalties he is known for

Porter has played great, besides a few too many penalties. The Claypool trade for Porter will go down as one of the all-time great moves by the Steelers

His type of play will always draw the penalty in todays game but he’s a shut down corner. Lookin like a long term solution for us. Solid pick paying out for years to come.

whoever has Metcalf next week is going to be a huge challenge. He gets a lot of PI calls too. If Porter is on Metcalf, then you got Locket to deal with.

I like that Porter can shadow the other teams best WR, but I wish he would be less handsy while doing so.

Want to see more pick 6's from JPJ. William Gay and Deshea Townsend were masters of the pick 6, but nowhere near as talented as JPJ.
