I think a good bit of our offensive woes are still due to the ineptitude of Canada and his plays and schemes. It is those plays and schemes that were installed and still need to be used this late in the season. Some expert film guy (I forget who) pointed out that many of the routes have the receivers run through the zone and actually into coverage, allegedly to allow for a chance to run after the catch. In the pass to Muth on third down that Mitch missed, it sure looked like that is what Muth was doing, but Mitch expected him to sit in the open area of the zone, like any sane scheme would have him do. I think much of the receiver’s frustrations are due to Canada’s schemes and the ease with which defenses read what is going on. It’s gotta be annoying to play in a system that is so bad. What’s a guy supposed to do?

I think the biggest debacle this year was keeping Canada. Lots of other issues, but I think that was by far the worst and a root cause of lots of issues. Getting rid of him mid-season was too late to make any substantive changes, and everything fell apart after being lucky early in the season.

receivers running through zones as opposed to sitting is on the receivers. That’s one of the things Hoge has complained about several times this season. We saw that last year from Chase as well.instead of showing the qb his numbers chase would drift through the zone. That essentially negates a route

Why aren’t the coaches pounding that into the players’ heads when watching the film and in weekly practice sessions? Our guys are sitting when they should be running and running when they should be sorting. Why have we not found ways to neutralize tight ends over the middle? Why can we not seem to make effective in-game adjustments? Are our players just stupid or are our coaches dropping the ball? I don’t fully know the answer but there are major disconnects within this organization right now.

dude it’s been beaten into their heads for as long as they’ve played football. With the exception of Josh Dobbs these guys aren’t rocket scientists.

as for the answer to the tight ends perhaps you should check the injury report. There’s a reason why Holcomb was our three down linebacker and Alexander was brought in as his back up.

Yet different players are consistently having the same issues as previous players. At some point, the coaches have to correct this, but the Steelers continue to have new players with the same issues as players who have moved on, and in some cases, who do better in another system.

YES, players are part of the problem, and have to make good throws/catches/etc. But there's more going on in this situation than that.

Injuries have hurt, but EVERY team has key injuries, especially this time of year. This team’s problems go well beyond injuries?

I take it that you disagree with all of these FACTUAL statements?!

And the Colts had a PS RB running roughshod on us yesterday.

Jack it’s no secret to you or anyone else what I think of you and why. So do us all a favor and play your stupid games with someone else. The next time you’re in Georgia shoot me a message and we will get together and “talk”. Until then die in a fire

I’m hurt. The only thing worse than an incessant agitator is an internet tough guy. Stupid games? You just can’t handle somebody calling you out on your bullcrap. Typical bully. When somebody punches back you run home to mommy.

That’s why I am wondering if it IS how they are now coached in the Canada system. Same issue over and over with different personnel. You do in games what you do in practice.

There is only so much Eddie can do, they still have his playbook they are working from.

Will have to wait until offseason to dismantle Canada’s offense.

    Exactly

The team has spent years on this system and you can’t just change it in short term

Unfortunately you are stuck with at least 80% of it

You can use more of the playbook

It’s clear the offense in general is not well coached. Receivers don’t read zone/man and react the right way like they do on other teams. Receivers are lazy on routes. Backs are lazy getting out on checkdowns. There’s no level of detail being observed at all. It’s pathetic. And the OL is a train wreck.
