"Tomlin's deeply immersed in player acquisition, player development and the hiring of positional coaches, all three of which have been failures -- no, signature failures -- on this front. The line's hurt everyone and everything, and there's no end in sight."

Wait... I thought he had no say in any of that and was blameless? :roflmao:

“We’re a fundamentally poor football group right now,” he said, opening his postgame press briefing. “We’re playing losing football. I take responsibility for that.

I am sooo tired of the..."I take responsibility for that" line. So tired, so worn out.

“I don’t necessarily have the answers as we sit here today. If I had the answers, we’d have played differently today. But I will acknowledge things won’t continue the way that they are."

Lol, I bet they do, Mike. I bet they do. This ain't something new.

I don't know why, but the team punting at that moment with that field position/score summed up Tomlin. For me at least.

His in-stadium decision making has always been questionable.

That actually could be the decision that gets Rooney to act. There is no excuse punting there, you need all the points you can get with your offense struggling to move the ball.

To me if I’m Rooney that looks like Tomlin gave up. And with players half assing it, something is up, he has at least lost some of the team.

And we keep running Harris up the middle on just about every 1st down over and over and over again. I can tell 80% of the time when Harris is going to run. If I can do that don't you think the other teams know that, but we keep doing it over and over. Okay if he was doing something but he is not for whatever reason, the line, injury, hesitations. So change it up once in a while.

This was a good article, and I agree with every word. It’s time for Rooney to make some hard decisions. Stability has been a great differentiating factor for this team, but stability is not what’s needed this offseason.

I’m not a huge fan of DK. On one of his shows last season he talked up Canada, how great he is, how explosive the offense was going to be, but with the first loss he changed his tune with a quickness. Suddenly it was a daily dose of Canada sucks. Wtf dk? 24 hours ago you were telling us how great the offense was going to be under Canada

He doesn’t have great takes. I would say the best thing about him is his closeness to the team, and the inside info he gets from time to time.

We're just so vanilla and we play scared. Bill Walsh said 1st down was the best down to throw. That's not to say that's the only way to do things, but Bill Walsh knew a thing or two

This team's scheming seems to be almost entirely built around the idea of winning the time of possession. Running on first down is a pretty well worn, time tested strategy in accomplishing that. The problem is that this is only effective when it's not almost every single series. One must also have an offense who can at least somewhat routinely convert on second or third down and middle to long. For the Steelers, neither of these basic requirements are met - nor are they even close to being met. And yet that's the only scheme that we use. It never changes, regardless of its lack of effectiveness. But even in the rarer instances where the strategy does work, the drive still usually won't result in a TD, as the offense will very routinely stall out in the red zone and settle for a FG (if anything at all), after which they've burned up a lot of clock for either very little, or nothing. The whole thing is an absolute trainwreck. Even very bad, suspect defenses are laughing at us right now.

GREAT articles. Local AND National describing what most have seen for years now

    Farabaugh with a perfect line
Loyal to a FAULT, that's what Art has fostered n the decay is here

Move on from Tomlin n bring in a new culture w a new hc n QUALITY staff on BOTH sides of the ball

Similar to Noll's departure, talent here more needed, but a BIG jump n improvement can be made quickly IMO
