My thoughts on regular season wk 15

1. Mike Tomlin's decision making is just as mind boggling as Mitch Trubisky's

2. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall Mitch hitting one single secondary option or even looking at one

3. Defense had absolutely no backup plan in the 1st half for the pass rush not getting to Minshew

4. Defense was totally bullied in the 2nd half, and rightfully so as they seemed to be on the field for most of it

5. Colts coaches made adjustments... . Steelers coaches????

6. Mitch Trubisky is simply not an NFL qb

7. There's an outside chance that Pickett comes back next wk... if not, I have to believe that Mason Rudolph will get the start

8. That kaezee hit was brutal, and the ejection was to be expected..... I also expect a hefty fine and suspension

9. Yes, Mitch was horrible, but the play calling was equally atrocious

10. Outside of the blocked punt, we were beat again in all 3 phases

11. I really think that Tomlin has lost this locker room

12. PLAYOFFS!!!! ... DON'T TALK TO ME ABOUT PLAYOFFS!!!! PLAYOFFS????

Good observations.

I think # 5 is the winner, however. It's so obvious that we didn't adjust (again) and the opponent did. "We are who we are", "We do what we do"... it's showing. We got totally outplayed in all phases in the 2nd half.

I continue playing Mitch and shelve Pickett. Zero need to get Pickett hurt in meaningless games. Get him ready with a new OC and go from there for 24.

No. 3 Defense had no back up plan for the pass rush not getting to Minshew. This has been going on most of this year. If Watt or Highsmith not getting pressure then why not send another blitzer once in a while, like we used to do with a cornerback or a safety. We keep doing the same things over and over again.

 

Hope we don't rush back Pickett for the sake of him playing under these offensive coordinators. Start fresh next year with new OC and hopefully new HC as this team is done.

No 2- he threw a couple of check downs, but yeah, he was staring down his first option a hell of a lot

 

His limited time today showed me what I already know what he has. I'm not against playing Mason the rest of the way, but I sense it'll be even worse than Mitch.

 

This is one my gripes as well. It's overshadowed by the truly rotten state the offense has been allowed to become, but IMO the defense has become a one-trick pony of sorts with the edge rush. It's understandably been impacted as well by the injuries to the MLB corps, but at its core there is little scheme beyond guarding patches of turf while looking for a splash play from the outsdie

But again, not the worst failing of the team this year. Just another signal to the need for change.

 

1/2 for 2 yards and sack? He didn’t have a chance to do anything. I don’t see it as being worse, but with the state of the coaching staff who knows for sure. But you have to try - maybe for the rest of this season - keep KP away from this train wreck

While I agree we don't have anyone who does well with that. Miss Hilton's ability in that regard. In pregame they gave Minshews numbers against the blitz and they were terrible.

 

What's mindboggling is when your pass rushers are in coverage down the field. Who are you fooling? And what happened to stopping the run? Brutal.
