I've been flirting with this idea for a while and just haven't done it because I hate those threads about bringing certain people in. The reason is because usually they devolve in to people arguing over the fact that this type of thread always pops up. LOL. Well I'm gonna brave the waters and just ask everyone what they think about Greg Jennings. I love him and think he would be great for Haley's system. He's got great hands. He runs great routes. He plays smart and he's a good guy off the field. The ONLY reason Green Bay is gonna get rid of him is because they have some young guys they need to lock up and he's gonna be a casualty of that. I would REALLY like to see him in the black and gold. I think he's been great for GB and could be good for us too. What do you guys think? I am putting this thread up under the assumption that we don't sign Wallace of course.

All for it, cut our aging big contracts to free up some cap space.

For the right price, yes. We need leadership in the worst way.

He was really hurt this year. Sunday he tore it up though. Also your font made it seem like you were trying to whisper that point. LOL.

That's the thing right there. But I really think he would be worth a pretty healthy contract. I would take him over Cotchery any day. Not that Cotchery is a bad guy it's just that IF I had to choose I would take him. I bet there are a lot of guys on here that have had him as a starter on their fantasy team a lot.

with brown sanders cotchery and plax we already have 4 good wrs , we have only two cbs (if lewis is gone) and one te in the hospital , if we have to spend money we have bigger needs

Well Plax is not the future and Jennings has many more years left in him I think. Good years too. I agree though that we need corners too. But if we could afford Jennings I'd take him in a heartbeat.

How old is Jennings? I'm not sure that he has "many" years left but if we could get 3 productive years out of him and let him pick up the mantle of leadership that Hines left behind that would be great.

Another smaller, speedy WR? No thanks. We have 3 of those now (2 if Wallace leaves). Besides, he's getting up there in age and that seems to affect speedy guys the most. I'd take Bowe over Jennings any day of the week, and I think Bowe would fit better into our system anyway.

Very, very rare for a guy to go to a new team and immediately become a leader. It's just not going to happen.

I don't disagree but there is a vacuum there that needs to be filled by somebody.

He'd be a nice addition, but I think he's way out of the Steelers' ballpark from a financial standpoint. Ya got an extra couple million to sweeten the deal?

Bowe is only a year younger than Jennings though. I like Bowe also I just don't know if he's as good as Jennings when it's all said and done. Bowe has always been the product of a crappy qb so he could do good too. But Jennings is actually gonna be availabe and who knows if Bowe will or not. Is it confirmed that he won't be back in KC?

i would ask the price of dustin keller , probably too much , the problem that we ahve a lot of needs and few money to spend , we have to hit 100% in this draft

Haven't you or the others who harp on $$$ so much learned yet? Each year (in recent memory) the team is over the cap...has little money...etc...and the team ALWAYS works things out and is able to sign a few people, re-sign people, sign draft picks, etc. Give it a rest...jeeez.

Bowe is just as available as jennings is. Both are unrestricted free agents and both are expected to go elsewhere. I personally think Bowe is a lot better than Jennings. Bowe did stuff in KC with terrible QB's that Jennings never did in GB with Rodgers

You guys are fooling yourself if you think the Steelers are going to sign a free agent receiver like Jennings or Bowe these guys are UFA and are looking to get paid. Especially after the Steelers signed Antonio Brown to that big contract. The Steelers are over the cap anyway.

Our needs are outside the receiving dept. Why spend it there?

Yeah...other than Bettis and Farrior, how many "big name" guys have we brought in via free agency or trade?
We only sign the inexpensive "diamond in the rough" players and concentrate on resigning our own guys and building through the draft.
That especially holds true during years like this...when we have to work hard to get under the salary cap.
    It's the Steeler Way.

And yes...our needs are on defense. Time to pay some attention to the linebackers and DBs. We can pick up a project receiver in the later rounds of the draft.
