How many teams are so glad that we are out of the playoffs. We all know and so do they that we are a very dangerous team in the playoffs. I firmly believe as someone said on one of the posts that when teams come to play us that is their SB and they come prepared to play it like a SB. We do not. We are content just to win and yes we do play down to sub teams and we saw that this year. I wish all the teams in the playoffs the best. But one thing to remember, thank God that we did not have a healthy, well conditioned Steelers team this year because you may have had a bad day.[IMG]

I know everyone likes to think we are the SB for our opponents, and there might be a time when that was somewhat true, but it sure isn't anymore. Do you really think the San Diego Chargers give a damn about beating us anymore than beating other teams? We just aren't a very good team, and I see no reason why any team in the league is glad we aren't in the playoffs. We don't scare anyone this year. Besides, we weren't very good last year in the playoffs.

Yeah, I'm sure teams were shaking in their cleats with the thought of having to play the Steelers.

before Ben got hurt most NFL guys thought the Steelers were going to be a real threat and they were starting to get on a roll. once Ben got hurt and even after he came back they never looked the same.

i cant imagine any team fearing them. they couldnt score. they would of had no shot against the Broncos or Pats. probably not even the Colts and Texans either. the only team they probably could have beaten was the Ravens and thats only because they looked just as bad as the Steelers did.

im never glad when they dont make the playoffs, but at this point the higher in the draft they pick the better. last year they had a good record, but most Steeler fans new they werent as good as their record and Tebow proved that. they made the playoffs last year and they drafted lower.

We are are the most storied franchise in football, the model that everyone refers to on how to build a successful team, with 3 SB trips and 2 trophies in the last 7 years and more Lombardis then anyone else, yeah, you can damn well bet we are everyone's SB, if you don't think teams get up to play some more then others, you are very mistaken, it's hard to keep that intensity up to it's peak week in and week out over such a grueling season.

We are no more anyone's SB than the Pats, Packers, Giants, Broncos, 49'ers, Texans, etc. Players don't think or care about the history of our franchise, the care and think about the quality of the opponent they are playing.

Wow, ok, we are light years apart on this one, you act like we are bottom feeders of the league. Agreeing to disagree on this one and moving on.

We lost to Oakland, Tennessee, SD and Cleveland this year. We have already missed the playoffs and could very well be swept by the Browns. We weren't far off from bottom feeders this year. We were not a good team at all this year, and that's the only thing players think of. Our opponents aren't thinking that we won 4 SB's in the 70's, they are thinking about how good we are or aren't this year.

Did Oakland and Tenessee have a crystal ball? We played them very early on. Believe what you want but despite our record, right before Ben came back for the SD game, my friend who writes for the Jets said that in most circles people believed the Steelers were the team to beat in the AFC. And if you don't believe that teams look at the schedule and circle certain games, I dont know what to tell you.

Ok....everyone read my original post. I was talking about a HEALTHY, WELL CONDITIONED STEELERS TEAM. NOT WHAT WE HAVE NOW, I AGREE WE WERE NO THREAT TO ANYBODY IN OUR PRESENT CONDITION.

I'm going to agree with T.E. on this one Shaner because you made that comment before to me about we aren't anyone's Superbowl anymore. Lets just look at the teams you listed. Week before the Raider game all anyone could talk about was how they were giving up huge yards on the ground and that even our sputtering run game should be able to put up 150 easy. Come game time WE had miscues and the Raiders came to play shutting down the run game, forcing turnovers and gave us as much as we could stand. The Titans again everyone said the week before that Hasselbeck being in there was a blessing and as long as the stop Chris Johnson who was having an off year they should win it in a walk. Game time Hasselbeck sling's it all over the place, the Titans play some tough inspired ball and again miscues by the Steelers help win the game for the Titans. The Chargers put up barely 10 pts one week, give up a 4and 29 to a hurting Ravens team and have trouble winning in Pittsburgh. what happens? THey show up play some hella inspired ball on defense and do just enough to score points to win the game. Yes it is an under-performing Steelers team this year but the evidence is clear no matter how bad the team they are playing has played in previous week's they get a fire lit under them to play the Steelers sorta like playing in a Superbowl.

So would the team magically be healthy if they made the playoffs? Look at the injury report.
