It is a viable argument, sure. It's just a hard one to prove. There have been times where the defense HASN'T played particularly well but Kenny hasn't been able to pull us back with a big stat game. Typically we either have games where he can pull out a late win with low stats, or we get blown out because Kenny can't put up enough points to win.

This season he has shown flashes in the second half of the Rams game and parts of the Raiders game... and that's about it. Aside from that Kenny has just performed poorly. In 2022 I thought he looked good for a lot of the Dolphins game (had a few picks to end that one, but he moved the ball), Bengals game (didn't have the great comp% but pushed the ball downfield with success) and Raiders game in the cold (good production in tough conditions yardage and completion % wise). Aside from that he's largely been a guy that struggles immensely to move the ball down field.

Could it be that he isn't doing much because he is instructed to take zero risks unless needed to? Sure. If that's the case, that is a whole different problem as I would argue that means our coaching staff doesn't trust him/think he is good. I watch the game every weekend with my brother and dad, and I've said the past couple weeks it looks like we call plays as if we think Kenny sucks. We never give him an opportunity to make plays, and he never takes a chance to let his guy go make a play. Is it because we are too cautious? Or don't we trust him? It's impossible to know for sure.

Sunday, while running out the clock, they made an aggressive play call to hit Pickens down the middle of the field. And to his credit, Kenny completed it in a situation where stopping the clock would have allowed another 40 seconds for the Packers. Unfortunately the refs took it away (there are camera angles that clearly show the defender swerving into Auston and initiating contact). That play call doesn’t happen if there’s no trust in him.

Fair enough. I meant that statement in regards to all the short check downs and passes 2 yards downfield all game. And all the 5 yard routes on 3rd and 13. They took a chance on a play to let him win the game, but where are the chances prior to that? I get what you mean though. That play definitely showed trust in him (and should have ended the game, as I think it was a pretty BS call too).

But it’s not all 5 yard routes on 3rd and 13. He’s often just not throwing it down the field, even when guys are open. For the most part his throws down the field are on the sideline, and the majority are throws to the back shoulder of either DJ or Pickens running a Go route. I hope he gets it soon.

I think a lot of people here are just being realistic to what they think the Steelers would do with Pickett. Even if the fanbase thought he wasn't the guy, they organization is going to do their due diligence with him and probably give him next season as well. If the team is going to be "stuck" with a guy that long, might as well support him as best we can or it's going to be a miserable time during the Pickett tenure
Also, you have a habit of making debates an "us vs them" thing, pretty much like the Tomlin debate. If you were to really read and pay attention around here, you would find there are more on your side than you think.

The same reason if you don’t bash Tomlin every other post you are an apologist and homer

There is talent on our roster, we just need it to come
    together in all 3 phases.
