So we need to look to the current ball boy staff to find the next gem!

I thought they would have at least waited until the of the season. I understand the Raiders next HC will be the winner of their 2023 ESPN Fantasy Football League.

Steelers are not going to budge on coaching staff until January of 2024. Get over it.

He did stay too long in Denver nor did Tebow. I’ll give you Cassell however at this point the only place I see him being an OC at is NE. In addition I just feel like the guy comes with drama and I don’t see Tomlin or the Rooneys inviting that into the Locker Room. I would rather get somebody from the Shanahan Tree.

We are friends with the family of the guy who now Coaches the Phoenix Suns. We run into his overly PROUD mom, too much. When he won the NBA title with the Lakers we sure heard about it. Now when we see her it's always that the Lakers still owe him a couple million. Imagine having someone owe you that sum of money.

Yikes, don't say that name;) I still am PO'd the mighty Pittsburgh Steelers got beat by him in the Playoffs. Should never do this in the NFL but I was 100% certain we win that game but I was also 100% certain we beat San Diego in a long ago AFCCG. I list those two games in my top 5 of Mother F.

OMGoodness, that Chargers game was brutal! O’Donnell to Foster for the win…INCOMPLETE!

That may have been a blessing in disguise as I’m quite sure the Niners would have spanked us in the Super Bowl. But I also think we could have given them a much better game than the Stan Humphrey led Bolts!

good intelligent question, Jammasterc. you're smarter than many on this board.

the answer is a lot depends on the contract and who has the better lawyers.

Most contracts obligate the fired coach to 'mitigate' the pay by looking for work, but it's hard to enforce.

Most contracts won't allow the coach to just sit at home on his can and get paid.

But if the team wanted to prevent him from working for another team, that can be in the contract too, with a non-compete clause of some kind.

Also, new teams have deliberately underpaid when hiring knowing the old team must pay, but the new team can be sued to pay market value.

Interesting read if you like lawyer stuff.

    I think you’re onto something!

Is there a current ball boy with the team we could get to replace Canada?!

    You’re brilliant, Jammaster!

We got a loyalty thing in management. Not the Steeler way to dump a coach mid-season no matter who is available.

That way of doing things almost certainly has more positives than negatives. A rare exception where that loyalty would hurt would be an offensive or defensive genius who leaves a team for reasons that don`t reflect poorly on him and you have a coach you are ready to dump at the end of the season anyway.

So, we can ask, is this the situation we pay a price for our way of doing things? No way we call him up for reasons cited IMO.

Loyalty can be a good thing.

Blind loyalty can be devastating to an organization.

Here’s a thought. I’m not a Tomlin hater nor am I a Tomlin apologist. That said, I think MT has run his course with the Steelers. What if we trade him to the Raiders for a 1st in 2024 and maybe some additional picks/players? I think both teams would benefit

I don't know, but it's not uncommon for the contract to state that they only need to pay him the difference if he does get a new contract. If that's the case, it would be in the Raiders best interest for him to get hired somewhere

What has Josh Janiels done without Tom Brady? Anyone watched the Raiders offense lately? I think they’re worse than Steelers.
    Just stop it already.

I don't want McDaniels. Every Brady coordinator was not great once they didn't have Brady. I'll pass here. And I'll pass on Byron L.
