Like in boxing if you are facing a fighter with superior skills then you have to turn the fight into an ugly brawl. The skilled boxer wants to stay out of your reach and pick you apart, the last thing he wants is for you to get inside and keep banging away at him.

agreed - which is why I / many of us were SO optimistic about this year. then, we remembered - we have Canada and Tomlin.

    our hearts will be broken.....

you need great talent + GREAT coaching to be elite in this league.

That's why when people say a certain style "isn't how offenses are run today". Why? If we had ball control offense that chews up clock and keeps the other teams offense on the bench who cares whether its the "latest fashion" in how offenses are run. If we had a lead blocker that helped to create more success in the running game, who cares if that's not how its done today. It worked for bettis and foster, etc ,why can't it work today. Is there some magical defense that negates that. Same thing with running our traditional 3-4 with a dominant nose tackle, why cant that be effective today. Tomlin moved away from that, thus Lebeau jettisoned. As long as we ball control and score 7's vs 3's that is what will be crucial. If chew up clock and only kick fg's that can burn you when the other side eventually breaks through, otherwise use what works.

I do feel bad for the guy. Everyone says he is a nice guy but at the end of the day it’s all about results. It’s hard to evaluate Coirdinators when there are so many moving parts that effect performance such offensive line coach, scheme, design of plays, coaching up players within the scheme, setting up plays or players to take advantage if their strengths, setting up opposing defensive s to create matchup problems, scheming listers open, cohesion and unity of blocking schemes as a component of the offensive scheme, calling plays and scripting them for good flow, how easy is the offense to pickup to allow players to fully utilize their instincts and natural ability instead of thinking if the offense. I just wonder perhaps his offense looks good on paper but maybe it’s difficult to implement. Something has been missing and going on three years now it’s hard to not think little success’s here and there aren’t breakthroughs that will turn into long term success’s but who knows.

Yes but that cuts both ways, in the age of offense the reason for 1-15 if we allow more than average is because we are not scoring above that much so we lose.

At exactly what age are you thinking groin surgery isn’t pretty severe

I’m only thinking that if it’s your groin and not mine

    That's not what I said.
Example: T . Taylor....not a great Qb, but with as much time as He has spent in the NFL He's serviceable.

Well even though I didn't like moving from the type of 3-4 we did run....because I Loved it....I do see why they did it. NE would play us ,and not run the ball most the game, and they knew that most teams were going to a heavy passing game.....so even though I didn't like it....like I said.....I understood it. Now the reason I believe teams don't take this approach with the running game more is....You would basically have to draft a new Qb every 5 years.....because no freaking way You are going to pay Your Qb 250 million dollars so You can run the ball down everyone's throat, and Your Qb will leave if He doesn't get close to equal pay as the others. So therefore the Qb has to eventually become a huge part of the game...as much as people like to say it doesn't....money is a powerful decision maker.

All that means is that the defense can't afford to give up more than 22 points in a game, because if they do, they lose. The offense is so bad that if the defense allows the other team to score more than 22 points...they can't win.

This stat doesn't defend Canada. It is his damnation. It shows how inept the offense has been since he took over as offensive coordinator in 2021.

The average NFL offense scored 22.4 points, and the Steelers have only won 1 game if the defense gives up more than 22 points. That's pathetic offense.

With that said, we all hope that Canada can make more adjustments to the offense. We all hope(mostly) that Kenny Pickett continues to get better. We all hope that the team remains relatively healthy from here on out and that they are able to consistently score more points.

I truely believe this team is one playmaker away on offense from becoming a dangerous team.

no - they are several coaches from it.

who cares about average. average teams don't win divisions and don't go to the playoffs.

    come on man!

i don't buy that. where would he play? Do you mean a skill position? Now - if we had a DeCastro or Pouncey, then maybe. We don't have great talent on the OLINE. that is for sure

For sure.. Passing opened up the run game. Keny backed the defence off. We actually looked like we knew what we were doing. Running the ball is fine but if its not working no point in rinsing and repeating.

I feel like our guards are getting better. If the rookie would get on the field we MIGHT have 3/5 solid OL players. Center is a huge weak point and we need an upgrade at RT if Moore can’t move over.

Doesn't matter...... when you have these types of players and they're not putting up big numbers, then the only place you can look is at the coaching, which is the main point of the thread

agreed - C is weak. Coaching is weak.

that makes the O weak, not necessary another skill player, as was asserted.....

when healthy, we have talented SKILL players.
