that was the last one they played. we won, they lost. let's talk about the high flying buffalo offense. their qb was the next coming of JC the last couple of years. scoring is down across the league this year. not just for us.

as far as just the last game, why talk about last year, six weeks ago, two weeks ago? many thing can change and have changed since then.

Maybe but Alex Smith was 100% right about our offense in the first 5 games.....Alex Smith is btw a perfect exemple that coaching matter big time in the NFL....Look at his numbers with Mike Nolan and Mike Singletery as head coach in his first 6 years vs his number after under Jim Harbaugh and Andy Reid....It was much better and this is not even close!

What happens when we get down 21 points or so in the 1st half? When the defense doesn't score a TD? Does Canada have what it takes to adjust? So the hope is hold the opponent down score wise and turn on the jets at the end right?! A steady diet of 4th quarter hope will only take you so far.

The hope is that they can get off to a better start and carry it to the 4th quarter. Three home games coming up. Jags will be a tough match, Titans have a beast at running back in which they have trouble with and then the Cheese Heads which are struggling which could be a trap game. Hoping to come out of this 2-1.

I don't care what the rest of the league is doing and that scoring is down. They best get better production and especially play calling in the first 3 quarters not just the 4th.

Oops. Forgot to write anything. But I was going to say yeah, that's the other side of the coin. On the one hand I don't think the Steelers should be initiating shootouts, but it always breaks my heart when they realize they're in a shootout too late and plod around while the other team is racking up points.

    correct

we are winning with smoke mirrors & duct tape + refs on the take.

Winning is better than losing, but an illusion for now.

    Offense BLOWS...for now.

2nd half showed signs of LIFE. We will see what 1st Q looks like on Sunday.

JAX can rack it up FAST in points!

What that all comes down to is, if you want to control the clock you have to control the ball, and your downs. Can't be getting in third and long every time. And on defense of course you got to keep the bad guys outside the red zone. And I think they get a great job of that this game. One thing that's great about the Steelers is year after year they maintain a pretty consistent formula, and that formula involves a lot of low scoring games.

For all of the criticism of our coaching staff and much of it justified, the Steelers are incredibly 11-4 over their last 15 games. That is the 4th best record in the NFL, they might be doing it with smoke and mirrors but somehow they are doing it.

The offense still stinks even though we sport a 4-2 record.

To be taken seriously as a contender you need a top shelf offense and at least an average defense, OR the reverse, an average offense and a top shelf defense. We obviously have to strive for the latter even though the rules nowadays favor the former.

During our last game, I heard an announcer say the average scoring by offenses this year in the NFL is 22.5 points.

0h Canada. Why can`t we just copy some of what the top scoring teams are doing in their play calling? Everything is on film. No fines for plagiarism. Why oh why?

They won almost every close game since that time and sometimes, other teams like the ravens in week 5 keep the steelers in the game too long and to their credit, overall the steelers have been a very good fourth quarter team since 2021 at least. But in the first 3 quarters, it's so tough to watch at times, especially on offense but if it's a one score game in the fourth quarter, their chances are great

I don't think it's going to happen since it's always been like this since Matt Canada is our OC but we have to be so much better than that on offense in the first 45 minutes

I also think this is likely the only team in NFL history to be 4-2 despite to be 31st on offense and 30th on defense in yards, this is just crazy and since 2021, even if the Steelers often look awful, they find often crazy way to win enough games

Every bit of information we have from him and from the team has him returning in November. You aren't going to hear much until he does return. They didn't say much about Johnson, either, until last week. Understanding that teams don't release much information about players on IR until they are ready to be activated is not living in a fantasy world. Neither is basing projections on the available information rather than assuming things, which is what you are doing.

At this point wait until he is 100% and then he should have a complete full tank. The worst thing is to rush it even a week early and re-aggravate it, then he's done.

And you don't believe being in the NFL for 6 years had anything to do with this....not a bit???? Most Qbs are better in 6 years of the NFL. No matter who the coaches are....I'm not saying great, but better....if they make it that long. That's why so many Qbs hang around as backups if they have made it that long. Because they at least have seen it all, and can be trusted more.

Diontae Johnson is widely recognized among the best route runners in the league, and I doubt that anyone is questioning George Pickens status and overall ceiling..... While he is currently hurt, Pat Frieirmuth is recognized in that 2nd tier group of te's, and while not elite, you'd find a hard time finding more than 5 teams with a better rb tandem than Najee and Jaylen

    I agree.
I don't buy smoke, and mirrors bull$hit. It's funny, but why don't people look at the other teams in the NFL. Who is consistently good right now outside of KC, and Philadelphia, and one lost to the Lions, and the other the Jets. Lots of football left before I, or the NFL crowns a SB champion.

Hope he is back soon we need him. Groin surgery on a guy his age seems pretty severe.

The Steelers play ugly games and they drag the team they are playing into the ugly quagmire that the Steelers like. Most of the other teams in the league aren't used to this type of game and don't adjust well late in the game. The Steelers play this way every week so they are very comfortable late in the games during crunch time

In other words the Steelers turn back the clock on offensive football to the leather helmet days and teams get confused. Maybe Canada is a mastermind after all!!

All we can do is hope. I wouldn't rush Him. Groin injuries are a tricky thing....not counting one that was bad enough for surgery.

they pay our defense more than our offense so if we win with them it's not a big surprise. leather helmets? really? football hasn't changed as much as many think or want it too. just the rules. i still refer you guys back to the vaunted west coast offense back in the day. people thought that was the end all be all of football back then. no team would ever be able to stop it and every team needed to change to it or be left in the dark ages. guess what? defenses caught up. they pay those guys too.
