he did his job.......in the 2nd half. and Kenny got his head out of his ass. He missed DJ, that had been stated by your truly. Nice to see him back. And nice to see them get 30 on the field earlier. His 8 yard run was first rushing TD by our O this year.

Najee running outside is still ridiculous.

the TEAM got the win, not Candaduh - don't confuse the 2. still don't like him, YES - some creativity in the 2nd half, some rhythm, and I liked that.

Now - get me 13 - 17 points each first half and we can have a different conversation

Obviously getting a receiver of Dj’s caliber increases what you're able to do

So when Diontae Johnson was out Canada took all the blame. Now that he's back he deserves none of the credit. Doesn't quite seem fair.

He couldn't do anything to create offense with Johnson out of there. His offense relies to heavily on receivers consistently and quickly winning one-on-one matchups rather than creating openings through scheme, which you saw the Rams do yesterday. Of course it is going to look better with Johnson, who runs excellent routes and creates separation. His presence also makes it difficult to double Pickens, which allows more opportunities for him to make back shoulder and combat catches. It is absolutely fair to point to the return of Johnson as the primary reason the offense looked better yesterday. It is also fair to blame Canada for not being able to adjust while he was absent.

Knocked it off pretty well I'd say since Kenny Clutch went 11-12 in the second half and led yet another 4th quarter comeback! :towel::yeehaw:

4th quarter was everything that made me enthusiastic when Canada got the job, especially the innovative blocking schemes to open holes off tackle. Real happy to finally be seeing it. Real happy the Steelers have finally coalesced into a team that can execute it. Real happy to see Tomlin taking the ropes off to allow broader more risky offensive scenarios. On an unrelated (to Canada) note I was real pleased with 2 things on D that I've been crying out for for weeks: Herbig and Porter. I base a lot of what I expect in a game on what the Stillers do on their first offensive play and I was real happy with what they did yesterday. It said to the Rams D, "Look out: We're going to be spreading you out allll day."

Yup. It took a little time for the receivers to get back on the same page after he had been out since the opener.

Was at a birthday party. I had the game on in the background, but had no volume and was tough to watch. I didn't get a good feel for the game at all. All I noticed was our inability to score through 3 quarters, yet again. Wasn't able to identify where the failures were though

As for Kenny the big improvement I was delighted to see continuing yesterday was his stepping up into the pocket when under pressure to complete the play rather than flush out. That is essential. I was disappointed to see him take the sack rather than throw the ball out of bounds though.

The first time I saw him climb the pocket yesterday I was thinking...

Their corners are really good and they were dropping linemen and linebackers into coverage from apparent pressure formations real effectively. Adjustments in the late second quarter and then especially after halftime went a long way to rectifying that. Hurl it downfield a couple times, get some big runs through the softened- up middle, complete a few 10-yarders in the middle, hit Pickens' back shoulder on a couple hot sideline routes, suckers start staying home and Johnson comes open. Defensive adjustments to slow down the Rams' alarmingly effective first half third string running game really just seemed to come down to the D line and backs recognizing the formations better and making the appropriate adjustments.

Yeah, that one was frustrating. He almost escaped, but the defender managed to grab his left hand and pull him down by it.

Then while the Steelers were pulling the Rams defense in off of their initial defensive scheme, Watt and Alexander were stepping right into it on the other side of the ball right back in their faces. I have to take back what I said a couple weeks ago about Alexander not panning out on dropping into coverage because he wouldn't stay home. He's doing it right now.

To be fair, part of the problem offensively was self-inflicted. Remember, they should have had first-and-goal at the eight on one drive in the first quarter, but Pickens drew a stupid penalty for an illegal block. They settled for a field goal.

It took him a little while, but he has been playing better. So has Holcomb. Roberts is playing a lot less.

Yeah when I saw Coach Tomlin having his nice cordial conversation with both Pickens and Johnson after that cautioning them against that kind of behavior, I was disappointed to see that it continued. I hope he had a less polite conversation with them both about it after the game.

Oh and lest we forget, my nominee for Steelers MVP in this game is Rams kicker Maher, who couldn't hit a barn if he was in it.
