Fine by me. Either Rudolph will help pull our offense out of the doldrums and prove just about everyone wrong, including the front offices of all 32 NFL teams, or he’ll do what most people expect and we can stop seeing your posts about his greatness. Win win in my book!

Looking at some game film might help. Getting a game to just watch is probably more important. He has lost confidence in his line. He seems to have lost some confidence in himself, too. Even if he can go, I think they need to give Pickett a couple of weeks to try to get his head right. Spend this week and the bye trying to fix whatever the hell is going on and see if they can find the guy from last season and the preseason.

This, perfect time to get his head straight and look at it from a different view. Also to heal his knee further but more important his mind and confidence.

The knee could make things worse mentally, too, if he feels like he's not 100 percent. Like it or not, and most of the board seems to have turned on the guy, the Steelers need to do everything they can to get Pickett right. They spent a first-round pick on the guy, so they aren't going to give up on him just yet.

I wonder if people had things backward with Pickett. They talked about how pro-ready he was, but maybe a guy like him is going to take a little more time. His advantages in college were more mental than physical. He is a good athlete with a pro arm, but he doesn't have elite physical gifts, so it may take more time, not less, for him to succeed in the pros. Then again, maybe he's just a mess.

    Dateline, Feb. 2024 Las Vegas.

Mason Rudolph, an afterthought for so many years, is leading the Steelers off the plane for the SB. He got his chance in week 5 and has been a huge surprise around the NFL since.*

what I miss - and many of us stated it here - was the guy from 2004 - ~2018. He was a GAMER - strong WILL TO WIN. incredible sixth sense in the pocket. A jerk when young, but I think he grew up. Yeah, we miss him. Still underachieved far too much late in his career - he and Tomlin and the Teams in general.

Given that Geno Smith has become a good quarterback and Josh Dobbs has managed a couple of good games, anything is possible. lol

i hope kenny gets it together. i don't want him to end up like a good qb that was just beat up and became gun shy like david carr did. he was a guy seeing ghosts throughout his career after his beating in houston.

I agree and I know many think sitting him is the smart thing to do with a bye after this week. There is no real wrong answer. I just don't know if you can get someone to improve standing on the sideline and not play in a real game for 3 weeks. Seeing it and not being in it are not the same thing (kind of like preseason). If he has an injury that may need extra time, so be it. Need to find out what we have running the offense for future planning. JMO>

I would hope that this has already been pointed out during film reviews with the coaches. Or am I being too presumptive? JMO>

Mitch sucks no doubt, I think they put him out as cannon fodder to be honest. KP stinking up the joint and if he is fragile like I was worried about last year he will be bailing the second any pressure is there and the Ravens and every other team is gonna bring pressure until he proves he can beat it, so you might as well let him heal up over the next two weeks. If its Mitch how many picks in the first half does he throw?

I think this would not give him more confidence but lessens it. Here is a guy who is showered with high expectations from so many after the preseason and wanting to be the franchise QB and before the bye week be holding a clip board. I don't think after being told he is sitting that he thinks highly of himself and has more confidence, assuming he is true competitor. So, let's say MT starts the game and gets hurt or is throwing pics left and right. What then? Who gets to go in, if at all, to relieve and is entering a game that is not going well? Can MR go in as an emergency QB if KP is dressed? All theoretical but possible. Don't know who is steering this ship, and I am not a coach, but my thought is you put your best 11 players on the field and gut it out. JMO>

I think the better option is to use the injury as an excuse to sit Pickett for just this game, making it clear that he will return as the starter after the bye. That would show some faith in him, but also give him two weeks to heal and maybe get his head right.

the line is not totally to blame. KFP needs to look in the mirror. He is escaping the pocket too soon and too often. He looks scared and unsure. He needs to get back to the fundamentals of his game. IF you can win 4 games in a row in the waning moments of a game you can get back to that.

I wasn't saying it was all on the line, but their failures are part of the problem. Even with that, a quarterback's eyes need to be down the field. Pickett's eyes are on the pass rush far too much of the time.

4 touchdowns in 4 games. We're really setting the league on fire.

    15.5 points per game lol.

Does carrying the goalposts around like that hurt your back?

    Here is what you wrote.

I simply reminded you that the Steelers did manage multiple passing touchdowns in a game two weeks ago. Your implication about the current team was factually wrong, so you decided to move the goalposts. Nobody said they aren't bad. Pickett is playing poorly, as are most of the players on offense. Even the best of them, such as Harris and Pickens, have been inconsistent. However, it is not accurate to state or imply that the current offense cannot score multiple passing touchdowns in a game. They did that two weeks ago.

Not sure but many years back was Carr the guy who led the Raiders to a great record and in the last regular season game, which was meaningless for their Playoff spot, got injured in 4th qtr. and Raiders got beat first round.
