I wish this was just some kind of joke, but apparently it isn't. Matt is THAT uncreative. No wonder we hear stories about opposing defensives knowing what play is being called before the ball is snapped. And this is the best Tomlin and Rooney can do at OC? THIS guy?

According to Orlovsky, Canada called the same pass play eight times during the game on Sunday. That is a terrifying piece of information. But it does make you wonder why Canada feels compelled to do this.

On the surface, it might seem like Canada is doing this just because he really is that unimaginative and is a reflection of his skills as an offensive coordinator.

Well if you don't have time to practice the play, why not practice it on game day?

To be fair, this is a problem that has proceeded Canada but yes, it’s very poor coaching.

It’s been a problem on both sides of the ball.

I tried to be some way optimistic, seeing the offseason moves, the draft, it sparked a hope. The preseason was a sign, but still unconvinced as it meant nothing. Still hoping that the nightmare last Sunday was something OTHER than what we can expect. But honestly it is hard to get excited about the next when you read this stuff, when you see our stadium packed with a west coast NFC fans, on opening day, I am thinking many others feel the same way. IDK, just watch and see with little expectations, that is the standard.

I'm not vouching to fire Tomlin tomorrow but I'm dahn to pay him a sum of money to retire at the end of the season. Outside of LeBeau and Haley, he's historically had awful coordinators. With a new GM and new QB, kinda think getting a new HC completes the face-lift of the franchise anyway. New fresh set if eyes isn't always a bad thing and we need far better accountability in the organization. Canada should've never been brought back; hell, he should've been fired mid-season last year. I literally don't even blame Canada at this point; I blame those that brought this goof back.

We all know that they'll ultimately win 9-10 games and make a push towards the playoffs, and all of these angst will be ignored. But it's likely another year without a playoff win and more stupid ish by these coordinators with the troops rallying behind Tomlin to make a strong push on the back 9.

And if there was an open WR every time they ran the play, is this still a bad thing?

Watching Alex Kozora breaking it down (calling offense 'boring') I'm not very optimistic for the future. The routes are horrible, the plays are limited, and everything is obvious to the defense.

So many mirrored concepts. Not many QB's can be successful when no one is open.

I disagree with Orlovsky. Calling the same pass play eight times during that game is an indication of Canada's brilliance! Think about it. No DC in the NFL is ever going to expect an OC to be dumb enough to call the same play over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again! Genius!!!!!

I know. I was using green font to indicate that I was making fun of something posted elsewhere claiming that another analyst's breakdown of the offense was pushing an agenda rather than an honest analysis.

Got dang people. Running the same plays is not a new concept, or a old concept. I'm I talking to people who have never watched football. If a Guy is open every time do You stop running the play.
Here it's really simple if You don't believe this. How many people would really like to bet money that I can't show You someone else running the same play more than 3 times already this season. People stop listening to what people tell You, and look with Your own eyes(of Your are blind, and only listen this doesn't apply to you). I gave You a video of every passing play....don't listen to the guy turn Your volume down, and freaking watch. Then make a decision.
No one finds it funny the same Alex was blaming Ben, and showering Canada with praise before, and now all of a sudden ots Canada's fault. If You want to just listen to what others think...well listen to Me....because I was way ahead of Alex....I said the day we hired Canada He was no good, but it doesn't change the fact people were open Sunday.

Apparently there was a curls and mirror concept on every play called. No wonder defenses have a field day!

They scheme is not helping players succeed, it's relying on players to make plays in order to to to move the ball.

Defense I don't know what they were doing. You get physical corners, then tell them to play off man.

I watched a bit of the coach film from game and there were WRs open on a number of plays. I think Kenny had more to do with it then the OC and or WR being open. He look rattled, scared or whatever. He was not prepared to see what San Fran brought in the way of defense.

The point is there’s no creativity in Mr. Saturday’s playbook. He’s calling the same boring concepts and the same basic schemes over and over again. Sure OCs call the same plays multiple times in a game when it’s working. When it’s not working they change it up a bit. You keep talking about players being open and that’s true. Those are NFL receivers and they should beat their man or find an open spot in a zone in occasion. But it’s not necessarily because of the design of the play. There is no doubt that Pickett was definitely off on Sunday, but Canada definitely did him no favors as Ben said. And I’m sorry, STD, while I think you’re a pretty knowledgable fan in your own right, I’m going to take the word of Ben, Orlovsky, Alex K, O’Sullivan and countless other expert analysts (as well as my own eyes) who watched that game Sunday and came away thinking that Canada’s gameplanning and scheming were absolutely atrocious. In summary, Kenny stinking up the joint and missing some throws and Canada having an inept gameplan were both true, they’re not mutually exclusive.

The 49ers stayed in single high zone most of the game. Receivers were open on those mirror concepts. Kazora's breakdown talks a lot about the offense being boring but someone was open on most of those plays. Gotta get them the ball. The execution was what failed.

Nobody has yet thought that they are only running the same plays because someone maybe having difficulty with more concepts.....also am I not remember correctly....wasn't it said that KFP was involved earlier with helping pick plays that he feels comfortable with???

Difference is....I'm not asking You to believe Me, Ben, PFF, or anyone. It's the reason I posted this guy's video. Turn the sound down....don't listen to anyone, and watch for Your own eyes.

Hey when you’re having the amazing success our offense had last Sunday. You obviously call the same play over and over again. Canada got lucky we played some bad teams at end of last year that is made his pike offense look ok. Our offense always a joke against real teams. When we average 17 points a game, can only win if d is amazing and causing turnovers.
