My thoughts on reg season wk. 1

1. The 49ers controlled the front lines on both sides

2. TJ Watt was the only thing that went right on defense

3. Kenny Pickett had a game to forget

4. Don't know what to expect whenever Presley Harvin steps on the field

5. We have an epic draft, and proceed not to use any of them while CMC and Aiyuk brutalize the defense

6. Only good thing about Aiyuk's day is that he's on both of my board fantasy squads

7. My hopeful eye says that the 49ers are that good more than we are that bad

9. Nice return game by Anthony Mac

10. Same old Canada

 

You get these games from time to time, especially early in the season, Bengals took a whoopin today as well.

The performance of Kenny and the offence is a huge worry though, even allowing for facing a top defence. The hype after the preseason was always going to be proven to be OTT but I wasn’t expecting such a hopeless offensive showing.

Hopefully they start to turn it around next week

 

One final point?!

Problem with Canada is Pickett believes in him. So will the Steelers spite their qb and get rid of Canada at end of season? Lets give this young team a chance, hopefully they gel into a good team.
That being said at this point i am in favor of getting rid of Canada if offense doesn’t improve.

 

I wasn’t sure about offense, but i really thought our defense was going to be better.

 

12. We looked like we were sleep walking the whole first half!

 

I’ll add to it we still suck and will be watching playoffs again

you know as well as i do, Steelers are not going to fire a coach in the middle of the season

 

Solid as always, BAGP. He was far from their biggest issue today, but what Steeler brass see in Harvin that was so clearly superior to Braden Mann is mind-boggling. Harvin is way too inconsistent. If they expect to be able to win close games, he needs to be much better.

 

I knew 2nd play of the game they were done and we were in for a long year of disappointments. Canada was saying f u to everyone.

 

13. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

Plenty of games left to right the ship.

 

They were on the field the whole game against probably the best offensive play caller in the game, who has a crazy array of weapons in Mccaffery, Deebo, Aiyuk and Kittle.

If the offence had done anything at all the defence would have looked much better. I’m not too worried about that side of the ball

 

I agree, but……. If defense couldve got a stop early in the game, maybe just maybe the offense couldve done something. Who am I kidding?

 

I couldn't watch the game but was following on Red Zone, and I suspected this might be the case.

As Heinz said, it's Week One. I'd rather take a beating this week and improve than go 11-0 and collapse at the end of the season.

(And yes, I know those aren't the only two options.)

 

Like i said guys n gals… Steelers have one of the youngest teams in the league. And on top of that we picked up other key players, this will take time for us to gel. I thought this was one of the best drafts on paper in a really really long time from top to bottom!

 

Don’t underestimate the loss of Heyward very early in the game. That was huge.

 

That 11-0 season was the beginning of the demise of offense. I dont know how to say this, but that was the worst 11-0 team i have ever seen.

 

And if it is a groin injury, at his age might be awhile before he gets back.

 

My gut tells me that at his age, a groin problem will nag him all year. It'll be a big problem if they don't find a competent stand-in.

 

Folks bottom line 49ers are a very good team. How many teams have a Mccaffrey? None. Great tight end, great wrs and a stifling defense. And a Mr Irrelevant at qb who might be in top 5 of todays qbs

 

I can pull a fat man out of my local bar and pay him 2 cases of beer a game and wouldnt be much worse! In otherwards wont be much of a hit toward our cap!

 

That play was mind boggling. I expected a legit attempt to establish a run game with a traditional run with najee there so the east west on a **** field was head scratching.
