Let me know if anyone agrees but don't come on here saying that I am not a true fan. I just don't have the rose colored glasses.

What I have seen from the Steelers this year is mostly amateur garbage. There are a handful of playmakers on this team and the rest are not putting forth enough effort. They make the playoffs and they are getting smoked period. Maybe not first round but if we play a top 6 team in the league right now it would be embarressing. Seattle put up 50 points back to back on their opponents while we struggle with every team and lose to the lesser competition. Brady picks apart defenses nearly every game while Ben improvises for 6 or more seconds to find an open receiver. Other teams RB's hit the holes with speed while ours fumble and find their way to the bench. Other NFL defenses are pressuring QB's nearly every time they drop back. Our's rush 4 and never lay a hand on them.

I know injuries are playing a factor but obviously the Standard is not the Standard no matter how Tomlin looks at it.

Don't get me wrong. I hope they make the playoffs but lets face reality here a second. Do they really have a chance at winning the Super Bowl this year?

One thing we got going all the Planets are supposed to align this week so who knows. I'm just not feeling it. Please go ahead and convince me I'm wrong. This team has no mojo. Even during the darkest days of the SB XL run I still had a feeling if they could just get in they might be dangerous. SB XLVII does not feel the same.

Right now, I'm having a hard time believing that they will even get in. Cincy will be bringing their A game this week.

I mean IF we get in we TECHNICALLY have as much of a chance to win it as anyone else and MAYBE a little bit MORE of a chance than the 1 seed because they've not won it in a while. Actually since we won it as the 6th seed that's happened multiple times. New York and Green Bay were 6th for sure. With that being said I really don't expect us to do well in the playoffs. We just don't seem to have the fire in the belly. Also we are so decimated with injuries that I just don't think we are healthy enough to get it done. Every week we've all been thinking that THIS will be the week they start the run and they come out and play flat til right before the half. If we pulled that stupid bullcrap against the Pats we'd be getting the most epic beatdown we've EVER had! Also the one thing I was the most worried about from the get go this year was the fact that we did NOTHING to amp up this D!!! Nothing!!! We've all known for a while that we are NOT the same D that we once were yet Tomlin and Colbert see fit to just keep the same guys??? That is NOT a recipe for success in a league that just keeps getting younger and faster. Imagine if Keisel or Foote had the step they used to have. We'd have a LOT more sacks. Imagine if Troy could stay healthy. We'd have a LOT more picks than we have. But judging by the way this team comes out flat every single week when they really NEED to win I would say that we do not deserve to be in the playoffs. Last night after the Jets pooped away their season Steve Young said it was football justice. He said they had no place in the playoffs because of how they've played sloppy football and played with no heart. I hate to say it but you could make the same case that THIS years Steelers have done the same FOR THE MOST PART.

I don't get the question. Deserving has nothing to do with it. The math dictates who's in and who's out. I guess we should expect them to forfeit a post season birth because they didn't play up to our expectations this year ??? If we manage to somehow get our sh**t together these last two games and do make it in there's a helluva lot of fans out there that'll be wishing it was their team in that playoff spot regardless of how they played this season ;)

I agree there are a LOT of fans that would like to see their team in the playoffs. That is the difference between us and most fans. We expect to see our guys in the Super Bowl every year and I think RIGHT NOW as it stands we would all have to agree that this is NOT a Super Bowl team. When I think about the playoffs I'm really thinking about the Super Bowl and if we are not gonna make the Super Bowl a playoff game is little consolation. But I'm a perfectionist by nature and I'm a little too hard on my team because of it. This is why I can't watch college football. I just believe it is mostly a celebration of mediocrity. I can not for the life of me understand how people can call it a success when they go to some bowl game. Either you are a champion or you are a loser.

Who decides what a SuperBowl team looks like? No one is a SuperBowl team yet. When the Cardinals made the playoffs a few years back, they didnt look like a SuperBowl team to anyone. But they where a great catch by the Steelers away from being the champs. You have to take it one step at a time. 1st step is make the playoffs and then anything can happen.

i think exactly in your way , if we have to be one and done i would be more excited about a higher draft pick , everything will clear on sunday , right now i'm not so confident going into that game . shees losing to the bungles would be hard to stomach

I didn't think we were worthy the year we went six road games to the top, and I didn't think the Giants were worthy either of the last two times they won the SB. I think my lesson has been learned at this point.

I would describe a Super Bowl team as healthy. I think that gives you the best shot. Gronkowski was Brady's main weapon last year and he got hurt right before the Super Bowl and eventhough he played in the game he was obviously not 100% and I think it cost them badly. It was like the gnats best 11 vs the Pats best 10 and a half. Say the Packer make it back to the Super Bowl and we've got Victorian out there vs Rodgers? I mean Rodgers ate Willy Gay up all night long.

I never root for a higher draft pick. They could have a losing record and until they are eliminated, I will be rooting for the chance of another game.

If we get in then we deserve it! However, making it through the playoffs and going to the Superbowl is another story.

Sorry but not me. To have a draft picks high enough to really mean anything you've gotta really be stinking up the joint ie, an under 500 team. Knowing how painful it's been watching this year's team I couldn't imagine having to endure seasons like the Brown's fans do.

It's weird how the Browns fans are so miserable watching their seasons play out because it always gives me great joy. Huh. That is really weird how that happens.

Can't keep dwelling on their previous performances...move forward and if they win out they deserve to be in. We havn't had any gimmes this yr. they worked hard for their losses. Seriously though once in the playoffs i feel it will be short lived based on our yr.

The Steelers have played like crap so far this year, but I'll say this, if we beat Cinci and as a result get in the playoffs, it's hard to argue that we don't deserve to be in. Who deserves it more? Cinci? A team we beat twice (assuming we win of course). Now, if we don't beat Cinci, then no, we don't deserve to be in the playoffs because we didn't win when it mattered

The Packers beat us in the SB and they were very banged up. The best team wins, not necessarily the healthiest.

    wow!

lets put things into perspective here just a little bit before we say they dont deserve to make the polayoffs.

sure they have had some major let down games and lost to some teams they should have beaten, but they have had a ton of injuries to key players.

Ben, Troy, Redman, Dwyer, Mendy, Lefty, DeCastro, Adams, Colon, Harrison, Woodley, Allen, Clark, AB, Sanders, Cotchery, Gilbert, Sylvester, Carter, Pouncey, both Johnsons and a Partridge in a pear tree.

these guys have all missed time. yes i know all teams have injuries. perfect example is the Packers a few years ago when they won the super bowl against the Steelers, but they also just made it into the playoffs and started getting healthy at the right time. if the Steelers can win there next 2 games and just squeak into the playoffs who knows what can happen.

so in short, of course they deserve to make the playoffs if they win out.

I enjoy rooting for the beloved Steelers week in week out. I know we had bad coaching at times and bad play at times. If the Steelers make the playoff it will be on there own merit. What I mean by this we are 7-7 we must win this week or the fat lady is singing cause we can not tie Cin at that point going into the final week. If we beat Cin this puts the pressure on Balt to win at Cin because if the Steelers and Ravens tie Steelers (mean beating Cleveland) Steelers get the division because of better division play. There is no pressure on the Steelers the Jets help by losing last nite. So here it is in a nutshell. IF Steelers beat Cin Steelers has tie breaker base on head to head Steelers in...If Steelers beat Cin and lose to Cleveland (God NO), Cin will still have to beat the Raven and I know Raven clinch but no team want to go in the playoff losing four or five straight so I see baltimore playing with heart and they all play at the same time I believe (A plus for Steelers). So base on that yes they deserve to go cause they would have to earn their way in with wins a lost this week fat lady is singing. Lastly if they make the playoff we do not have to worry about them playing down to talent which is our pain in the azz. We have to agree that we have played the good team very close. If you look at the posting from other we lost to every team not in the dance so hey lets get it started (sorry for the long post I hope i made a good point)

I agree with you for the most part, but I believe we went after offense more is because we just plain suck on the oline. I would venture to guess that MT and Cobert was hoping to get one more good season from the D. and use this year draft on younger talent for the D. jmo
