as i have posted in another thread the unclaimed free agents still out there, i will post again.

chase roullier age 29 was last with washington

    rodney hudson age 34 arizona

    ben jones age 34 tenn.

    justin britt 32 houston

    nick martin 30 wash.

    matt skura 30 LAR

i watched enough of green. even down at the goal line he got stood straight up and pushed back. there was no push. that's why 3 run plays by mcfarland lost us yardage down there. something has to be done.

these guys wouldn't cost a lot. they are not going to start unless there is an injury to cole. spencer and herbig need some time but this would help that transition.

the closer you get to the season the harder it is to prep guys like herbig and spencer for those roles. they are busy game planning at that time and not as able to work with individual positions as much. this list of guys are not going to be taught all the small things that would have to go into herbig and spencer. not that we shouldn't work on it with them just the time.

these guys could help that situation as well. win win.

Hell, add Jimmy Morrissey to the list. Third Team Center for the Houston Texans. Doesn't sound too impressive on paper but, not only is a natural Cetner, he also has played with Kenny Pickett at Pitt.

Add in the fact that Sheldon White and other scouts were at the Texans game during the First Week of the Preseason and Jimmy could be a good option.

There are a couple of things here, first is you are looking for a guy to actually fill a spot on the 53, with that the obvious thing would be to seek experience, bring him in and get to work. You have time before the first game to get him up to speed, at least emergency b/u. At cuts you can probably find a PS guy, but if there is any serious thoughts about this being a play off team..who actually could do some deep drive..then you prepare for that now. Looking at Mac's list I don't think any of those guys broke the CAP bank last year, but hard pressed to think most if not all of them are an upgrade over Green..for not much more CAP space.

On the plus side it gives Ben more ammo as he continues to gripe about what KC did to his final hurrah

None of us really know what Colbert, Tomlin, et. al. saw in Green to take him in the 3rd round when there were other options available. It is clear that they failed this kid. They over valued him and threw him right in to the fire. His confidence has to be shattered. Someone else said they feel bad for him. I do, too. Because he has tried to do all they asked of him without drama. He likely should have been a 6th or 7th rounder strictly as a left guard. He might have turned in to a productive pro. I think cutting might actually help him. Maybe he signs with a team that needs help at guard.

Green has sucked from Day 1. He has to go. I'm all for adding a backup veteran C from elsewhere. Keeping the lines deep and strong is the Andy Weidl special. And I love the Freier so I'll try not to mention how desperately I wanted Creed Humphrey. I do wonder though, if they like Herbig enough, how much would they consider sliding Daniels to C if necessary.

After Mason Cole we don't have a true NFL caliber Center on the roster. Ryan McCollum is the default backup at best. At worst he's a cut. Green is still not an answer. I'm hopeful something gets done before week1.

This becomes a non-issue if Cole remains healthy all season again.

I’ve always rooted for Rudolph, but watching last night reminded me of how atrocious his footwork and pocket awareness is.

He threw 2 passes that should have been pick 6's but the Bills defenders dropped them. There is no excuse for a QB in his 6th season to look so bad against 3rd and 4th team scrubs. He should have been the best player on the field but he was far from that.

Yeah, I give him a little grace there since he’s also playing with 3rd and 4th team scrubs, but he should have performed better than he did. He seems to move into pressure at times and doesn’t help his line any by creating space in the pocket, which Pickett is very good at.

We're going to end up cutting some decent players at DL, LB, and possibly TE. I'm sure that some team will likewise have to cut a decent backup center simply because they have more centers than they have room for. If a center heavy team is weak at a position where we're overloaded we might be able to trade bubble players even before cuts to avoid waivers. If not, we should still be able to claim someone off waivers who's an upgrade from Green.

What are they waiting for? I know they can carry all 90 until August 29th but he adds nothing. It was a horrible mistake of a pick. Although I can see them hiding him on the PS. Reality is NO ONE would want him.

The brass brought him back. I didn't think they would. And his reward for a cake easy time is playing horrible. After 6 seasons he should be improving, challenging for the #2 spot. Instead he has the picnic blanket out and a batch of picks in the basket.

I thought a few of the Lineman could play Center if needed.
    But a Full-timer is needed.

But it was still a team sport. Anyone that has should know that the rest of the team can effect You. It's why I never mentioned who the Qb is playing against (unless You push the stupidity). Joe Montana playing with 4th string will not look great. He is not blocking, or running the routes. The only way a person could use ......well they are playing against 3rd, or 4th string.....is if they are not playing with 3rd ,or 4th string. Anybody....I mean Anybody that has played on a team sport could tell people this. @jeh1856@jeh1856 this is not directed at You....I'm just using Your comment as a jumping off spot.
