I just saw a video saying Benton can play any position on the D line, maybe..maybe not. Recent years the NT position in our D has went from about 40% to (I read, no proof) as low as 25%. I have no idea if Benton could slide into Cam's slot, but with his athleticism I would not bet against it.

Amazing how Mel and others do this, I guess if you cover every angle you can claim you are always correct. lol

TJ is going to like another Badger on the line who can get after the QB

The Steelers (as well as most NFL teams) don't even use a NT anymore.

They still use a NT, but it's only about 35% of the snaps, Adams and Fehoko are on the roster as NT.

I forgot to include the word hardly.

They use a NT mostly on goal line stands, 3rd/4th and 1

Even when they use the NT position, most players that fill it aren't the NT from 15+ years ago, and by they I mean teams in the NFL, not just the Steelers

I mentioned the same thing myself.

I seriously hope someone is available in the final round. However... who knows?! Truly a toss up.

I am much less concerned about Kenny and more concerned about Matt Canada. That said, Canada's seat is red hot right now with Glenn Thomas as his Offensive Assistant. Hopefully Canada can make the jump.

It's far from putting a body there. Athletic or otherwise. Those are big shoes to fill. I do think our new additions will play their butts off just because of all the competition alone.

Had Benton as a Late 1st option. He may not have nearly as much pass rushing prowess as someone like Brian Breese but he does have enough chops with him being more polished overall. If anything... Keeanu Benton is what Cameron Heyward was when he entered way back when. Who better to teach him than Cam himself?!

    A+ pick.

I don’t know ya’ll, the moment he flashed on screen for me I thought of Javon Hargrave as a physical comp.

Just a few minutes of research and the vibes checked out.

Well... what can I say!! :lolol:

All four of the Steelers picks were either within my Top 15 (Broderick Jones and Joey Porter Jr) or Top 32 (Keeanu Benton and Darnell Washington). Injury concerns or not, key aspect within every draft is maximizing value. Philly seemingly does this every year now... though I am half tempted to stop calling them the Eagles and start calling them the Bulldogs. :lolol:

    From Farabaugh. Love it!!

UNITY TWP., Pa — Keeanu Benton is having an under-the-radar good training camp. The big defensive tackle out of Wisconsin has made some under-the-radar and made a number of pressures yesterday, including batting down some balls at the line of scrimmage.

However, he is impressing the other offensive linemen who have to block him, too. James Daniels has seen Keeanu Benton up close and personal. Benton himself watches lots of Grady Jarrett and D.J. Reader, who he sees as players very similar to him. But Daniels sees someone else in Benton — Packers defensive tackle Kenny Clark.

“He reminds me a lot of Kenny Clark,” Daniels said. “You look at his explosiveness and frame and they’re similar. The way Keeanu goes about rushing the passer, I see a lot there. They’re both explosive, stout, and strong. He is a guy I see a lot in Keeanu.”

Clark is only 27 and is a two-time Pro Bowler, so that is big praise from Daniels, who has seen Clark plenty of times from playing against him in Chicago while Clark is still kicking it in Green Bay. The one thing that sticks out about Benton is his frame. Benton looks like the hulk. It’s an elite from for a nose tackle or defensive tackle, but Benton has played anywhere from a 0 to a 3-technique.

I love evaluating players too. I literally can't believe they drafted the players they got at the position in the draft they got them, especially with the move up in the first for Jones.

If this draft ends up being a bust, I still agree with the way they handled the whole thing and the players they took. This was the type of draft you dream about. Every single pick except Jones in the first and Anderson in the seventh round I rated higher than where they were taken, some significantly higher! Everything fell their way.

Huh? Everytime you reply to anything it's something smug. I'll just put you on ignore as I never see anythiing from you other than making this site about you. One of the mods said not to start so many new threads so I was abiding. Another poster here asked about Benton yesterday and that info I posted was for him, not you. 21,000 posts and only 1 out of every four were found of any interest by others.....25%. Sounds about right.

I don't get involved in personal disputes, but I did not get that as a jab, I (like the other guy asking about Benton) have seen nothing. This written but..wherever you got it is great news. Thanks for posting it, I get numerous vids on YT, only subscribed to a couple because there are so many and most are not news worthy..this was a well written and thoughtful article..thank you.

Wow, I heard he was not looking good in the last couple of practices with Pads. Nice praise from James Daniels.

Maybe we will see something Tonight from Benton.
