I know I'm look too far ahead, but Freiermuth has 2 more years before his contract is up. By then, we should (hopefully) know what Darnell Washington is capable of doing. If Washington turns out to be just as good as Freiermuth, do we resign Freiermuth to a big contract and keep both TEs? I guess we might end up in a situation similar to Watt and Highsmith. Can we afford to keep both good TEs? or we let Freiermult walk?

Way to soon to speculate. If Muth stays healthy this year and his production grows I think they try to extend. You have the two extra years with Darnelle and can cross that bridge when the time comes.

Agree with Vox. Too early to tell. No reason to not extend Freiermuth if we can make it happen, and then figure out Washington when the time comes. Darnell is a rookie, so who knows what his value will be 4 years from now?

I sign and keep both as long as possible. Current market has TEs much cheaper than WRs so it's feasible to keel them both here their entire careers. The market is always fluid nonetheless.

Unless we see Freiermuth continue to pile up concussions and it looks like his football days are numbered, it's a no-brainer to sign him.

I think he's going to have a huge year.

Washington is a work in progress. We'll know more in two years.

Biggest concern with Muth is health. If he stays healthy you extend him regardless of Washington. An affordable weapon even near top TE pay.

I am not sure Washington projects as the receiving threat Muth is. Big IF in your question for me.

Muth is one head shot away of being Ladarius 2.0

Problem is, we will have to be signing KFP for ever around the time.
No way in hell can we pay all these future HOF players.

    FFS
We very well should be out of jersey numbers.

And if he piles up concussions

Well it’s still a no brainer

    Sorry I’ll move along now

I believe....JMO....if You don't go to a SB with KFP by the time His contract is up....draft another, because History shows more likely than not after that He won't win You one.

Based on your logic, does that mean the Bengals should be moving on from Joe Burrow if he doesn't win the Super Bowl this year? Or do you mean hold him on his fifth-year option for 2024, then dump him?

The Bills were wrong to sign Josh Allen to a 2nd contract. The Lions were wrong to keep Stafford for so long. Rams did OK with old man Stafford.

I'm glad Stafford got a ring. He's been a very good QB

If Muth stays healthy you definitely keep him I can see them using two tight end sets a lot once Washington settled in, where Muth essentially becomes a big slot receiver. It’s doesnt have to be a case of one vs the other on the field.

i agree. muth is a TE/WR and washington is a TE/OL. there is room for both. it can easily cause mismatches too.

They didn’t draft Washington to be a replacement for muth. They drafted him as a compliment to muth. Muth is a very good receiver and an adequate blocker. Washington is a very good blocker and an adequate receiver.

Unfortunately, Josh Allen has shown the ability to get the Bills to the playoffs consistently. Josh's problem isn't his overall abilities but decision making. Guy needs to learn when to run out of bounds along with living to fight another down.

Should he continue his playing style, he will become Cam Newton all over again.

Washington hasn't played a down in the NFL yet. He might not even get a hat on game day. If he does it will be for special teams and a possible help at the goal line. But they have Gentry for that.

Freiermuth obviously can't get concussed again. He is a major threat in the passing game. A weapon for Pickett. If he can stay off the concussion list you extend him next season or franchise him for the 2025 season and negotiate then.
