The Taylor Swift Law... Coming soon to a stadium near you?

Brazil is trying to pass a law that anyone caught selling tickets for more than their face value will face up to 4 years in prison and a fine of 100 times the ticket value.

Simone Marquetto, a member of the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies representing São Paulo, where Swift is playing three shows, introduced the bill last week that would criminalize ticket scalping with penalties of up to four years in prison and fees up to 100 times the original ticket price.

 

A bit drastic. I wonder if this lawmaker is left over from the bolsonaro era

 

I am torn on this subject.

I know this isn't part of this Law, but one of the biggest changes in my life has been getting to pay for Reserved Seating at Movie Theaters. I remember when all Movie theaters were General Admission and you had to stand in line for new movies and then you had no idea of where you were going to end up sitting. I can't remember the last time I went to a Movie that I did not have a seat preassigned.

For sports, I like the fact that I can pay extra and be able to sit exactly where I want too. I go to a lot of different sporting events when I am on vacation, and I love being able to buy the seats that I want.

I wonder how many season tickets to NFL games would immediately become available, if people could not resale their individual game tickets at a higher price?

There's obviously people that listen to Taylor Swift. The broad is the #1 female artist of all time. Personally she's not for me. But we cannot deny what she's doing here. She sold out Heinz Field back to back nights and holds the honor of having the largest crowd ever there.
