The defense comes together quicker if TJ stays healthy, I think it's realistic to expect the offense to score 4-5 more points a game.

    No no no.

He means that the not so smart OL has already been replaced. The starting five is currently set for the time being; Moore, Seumalo, Cole, Daniels and Chuks. Jeh is referring to Kevin Dotson; someone whom I have been and still see being traded before the start of the Regular Season.... for the right price of course. :drinks:

I think that a reasonable figure, especially in the first month. A lot of 'ifs', but it should be fun to watch. Every year is different, but the 2nd half of last season there was a definite growth and confidence. Muth was incredible across the middle, Najee was running really well. The key of course is to score TD's, but just as important is Boz returning to his from the previous years. When drives stall, we can't have half the FG's missed between the 40 and 50. Kind of petty, but getting from18 PPG to 23 is not only necessary, but building to 25 plus is something they need to strive for to be considered serious contenders.

If Jones is the real deal this OLine could be very solid. Really hope Kenny can develop in year 2 and by next year we could possibly contend.

I think defense will be fine as long as there are no serious injuries.

I'm worried about all the new faces on the offensive line, if it takes too long to figure things out our season might be sunk.

how they treat moore will be interesting. as many say they don't think jones will start day one. so moore will be put in an impossible situation. you start as you have done for 3 seasons now and we will take your spot when the new guy gets it. even if you play well you are just a place holder and we expect you to be the backup. damned if you do and damned if you don't. he should feel like dotson. yet they hang on to green. mainly because they won't get much for him. though they think dotson isn't good enough to start for us anymore but we expect some other team to give a premium to get him from us.

if i were moore i would ask for a release too. if jones takes his place and gets hurt early, you expect the jilted backup to step in and keep it going. the now we need you scenario. that may not sit well. moore has outplayed his draft position. he should feel like the girl the guy takes to the dance just so he has a date, only for the guy to hang out all night with the girl he really wanted to go with. this is going to raise bad feelings i believe before it's over. moore may have far greater trade value than dotson will.

what incentive does moore, dotson and green have? herbig, jones, seumalo and anderson have been brought in to take your places. i hope they don't leave kenny in the preseason games behind these 3 with these feelings.

i hope moore truly gets a shot at chuks job as well if they intend to use this kid the way many feel this will go. i want the best 5 manning the positions. i want the best 3-4 behind them. i don't want the jilted girl sitting by herself at the table waiting for her chance to be asked to dance when the time comes. then expect her to be happy about just being asked to go and treated like a cast off.

neal, kazee, sullivan and peterson along with the changes at ILB will be alot of new faces in the coverage units and how quickly they know what the other is doing at any given time. then throw a rookie or two into that equation and i don't think it's as cut and dry as you think SG. it's a little more than just a one for one swap.

At first there will only be one new face on the OL and that is a seasoned vet who apparently is very intelligent so that will work quickly

The other potential new face won’t start until he figures things out be that the first snap or next season

Even with the defense having 2 new starting ILBers and a guessing game at corner they have enough veteran leadership to hit the ground running from the gate.

Who knows what the offense is going to do yet. The addition of Seumalo and drafting Jones this line should be very solid. Unless Jones struggles in camp he should be the day one starter. I don't have concerns with Pickett. I do have concerns like most of us in Canada and the direction of this offense. Need to be more creative then run, run, pass. Personally I feel that Jet Sweep Canada is the weak link.

I was hoping that Dotson would be traded during the draft. I feel he will stick and possibly during the season he will be traded due to injury. That huge scrub mistake Green best not be taking up a roster spot. What a terrible pick.

This is one of the things that will make TC very interesting this year, IMO. On one hand you typically don't trade up to draft a player you expect to sit for a year. On the other hand, Moore showed he is capable at LT and the Steelers start off against some of the league's best edge rushers. How Jones does vs Watt and Highsmith in TC may go a long way in determining just how ready he is for Nick Bosa week1, Myles Garrett week2, and Maxx Crosby week3. Not saying there will be cupcakes on the schedule, just that is a helluva lineup to start out against as a rookie. I'm sure at his 2022 exit interview, Dan Moore was told exactly where he stands with the organization and what is expected from him moving forward. Same with Dotson which is why he is already acting like he's been replaced. Thing is, if these guys ALL hit the ground battling to win those starting jobs, it only makes us better.

I don't fall in with the 'pattern of behavior' line of thinking. I believe each season holds it's own set of circumstances and decisions to be made. I also believe those decisions are made for what is best to help win football games. TC can't start soon enough for me.

True, but the only rookies looking to get significant playing time in this equation is Benton at NT which isn't a huge issue as stated before and Porter Jr., which obviously is in the coverage units so that is a change. Sullivan and Peterson are vets and should be able to adapt quickly, its not like we have a "special" defense that no one else runs. Same goes for Neal and Kazee. I'm not saying it should be seamless, but the majority of the changes bring in vets so it should be easier and quicker than just having a ton of rookies.

The offense should come together quicker...
Most of the starters were already in place.. it's just the left side of the o-line that's really in question

Moore can ask for a release all he wants, it doesn't mean the Steelers have to grant his request, they need him to be the swing tackle so he's not going nowhere.

we all know they don't have to grant it and we don't know for sure they need him to be the swing tackle yet. he may be the starter. jones has done nothing yet as a pro except get drafted. moore has started in the league for two years, so he at least has a track record. it also doesn't mean there won't be hurt feelings over it.

First two games in the Burgh so should be a plus for both O and D plus we tend to do good on MNF.

Don't feel like researching it but I think we won like every MNF game played in Pittsburgh and most played outside the Burgh.

Fun fact: The year I was born Steelers won on a Monday Night and there was no such thing as MNF.

I don't believe the steelers have lost a single home game on MNF since the beginning of the Cowher era!

    Are you off your meds

    Again

Every NFL player sooner or later will have competition for their position no moore (pun :smiley1:) no less

Moore will be given a fair shot to keep his job if he looses to the next guy he will be given a fair shot to compete at RT if not he will be given a fair shot to be swing

To ask for a release when you are a starting player would make no sense zero zip he’s in a good position

Dotson is toast but if he asks for a release he will be in a poor position as a FA he is only a camp injury away from another year paycheck

I think Green makes the team

Do you think he will be given a fair shot against a first round draft pick? Maybe in theory but let's be real here. He wasn't drafted first to sit. The writing is on the wall. RT may be his shot but then there is chuks making a lot of money. Again, it makes no sense for him to sit either at that money. The longer Moore sits as the swing guy the more he diminishes in worth for his next paycheck here or somewhere else.

    Uh

    Yeah

They will start the best man or woman (probably not a woman since there is a dearth of them on the roster)

Otherwise if all things are equal than yes they will go with upside
