depends on mccullom. can mccullom play guard? he can stay on the PS too and be the extra o-lineman they allow on game day or one of the two. herbig at center shoves green back i think. i thought greem may stick but man he was just so bad at both positions.

The door can't hit this terrible pick soon enough. Gunner has to go.

yea i kind of agree with this. gentry probably has the best chance out of this group but it just depends on how many from each room is kept. who has practice squad eligibility may have the inside tract. i'm mostly talking about the 53 though.

    Tre Norwood ------ stays
Loudermilk ----- stays, but this is his last shot
Cody White ------ gone from active roster and back to practice squad
    Zach Gentry ---- Stays
Dotson ---- only scenario where he goes is via trade.... Then again, he could pout his way off as well
Kendrick Green ---- I see no scenario where he's still wearing black and gold except for watching games in his living RM like the rest of us
Montravious Adams ---- Fehoko makes this one really difficult, but with Benton's ability to play all 3 spots on the line, Adams could still stick
    Killebrew ----- gone
    Anthony McFarland ----- stays
    Gunner ---- Done in Pitt
James Pierre ---- doesn't have the long speed to stick with receivers.. his strength is his short area quickness... If he's only used in red zone situations, then you could make a case for him... Otherwise, he's gone

tre norwood - It is well past time for him to be gone. Versatility is only useful if the guy doesn't suck at every position he plays. He had some decent moments, but he hasn't developed at all.
james pierre - If Trice can replace him on special teams, I think he's gone. Maybe finally dumping Norwood gives him a spot as a special teamer.
isaiaah loudermilk - stays unless he has a lousy camp.
cody white - practice squad or bust
    zach gentry - stays
kevin dotson - stays unless he is traded or has a lousy camp
kendrick green -It is well past time for this guy to go.
montravious adams - Too many other additions made him expendable.
miles Killebrew - They need to keep some special teamers, right?
anthony mcfarland jr. - Unfortunately, I think he's the third running back. I would rather have Snell, if only for special teams.
gunner olszewski - Time to go. He can't even be trusted on returns.

Honestly I hope Gentry sticks because I think he is good for the Locker Room and 6’8” TE’s don’t grow on trees. Killebrew and Pierre are good on Special Teams and depth pieces.

Gentry is part of a long tradition of Pittsburgh TEs like Spaeth and Tuman, who are “good enough” until the next good enough guy comes along. Because ultimately they’re only ever used in situations where that’s what’s required.

That’s why I think he’ll probably get moved on this season

Everyone of those players is a zero WAR player meaning serviceable if there is not a better player, or easily replaced if there is a better player. Most of these guys are better depth pieces than what the Steelers have had the past few years.

I just wonder without a true FB on the roster if we could see a 6th O-Lineman in the backfield for short yardage situations?

I think this is what Vince Williams was talking about when he suggested Kendrick Green could play FB.

I have not thought about it, but it will be fun watching, and seeing who actually makes it. It's hard to say because some will get better, and some will stay stagnant..., but We shall see.

I have tried to find the info on the extra OL, but not much written on it. I know it's like the old 3rd string QB rule, expands the game day roster, but what I can't figure out is if the PS limited activation affects that position. The last couple of years you could 'protect' a PS player, but only so many times ( I believe 3) during the year. I would honestly just love to have the roster expanded to 60, with 5 to 10 guys on the PS. Find a happy medium on a pay scale those extra 7 'protected' players get so both the team and the player benefits. it would take some negotiation with the union, but a player getting extra, possible pension time (PS players do not get that), and a secure place on the team for a year would warrant some consideration.

I think that's a fair assessment. The depth the last couple of years has been putrid, that's one of the issues for Loudermilk, the players they have signed/drafted make him very susceptible. For Gentry I think it comes down to how they want to use Conner H, and how comfortable they are with Washington's progress. For me I am interested in seeing how the RB room works out. Is Pottebaum just a relic from the past, or do they still see a purpose for a FB, if so does he make the grade?

I have always wanted them to change it so that the whole team could dress. Not just 48 players.

That's a page I actually found. Lol. I recall reading a different set of rules regarding PS, the amount of times they can be protected, activated etc. I know the COVID expansion allowed different exemptions as well. I was wondering how this affected (if at all) those OL that were used under this. I know if a guy gets snatched he has to be put on that roster, and that's actually better for him.

That would make sense, have the 53 available but those extras designated as emergency back ups.

So are you suggesting adding the expense of flying, feeding, hotel etc. for all of those extra unused bodies for away games
