Don't care. Our identity is defense.

Getting on the subject of the OP, Colin has shown me that he consistently contradicts his views. This current aspect being no different. To say it is an Offensive League is an understatement; doubly so in regards to the QB.

Within the same breath, he commends the likes of Philly, Kansas City, San Fran, Cincy (to a lesser degree in this case), Jacksonville (most recently) and Miami for all having one critical component that can defeat the modern NFL Paradigm; a great pass rush. Pittsburgh has historically had a great pass rush; their six Super Bowls being their evidence. Colin has never stated the Steelers were never a stable Franchise... he just likes to reinforce his points; @HeinzMustard@HeinzMustard being correct in obtaining a reaction from major sports brands being a revolting yet critical aspect of him being a shock jock.

All this stated, I am with the masses of the site. It does not bother me any sort of way regardless. I will agree with Cowherd on the premise of Matt Canada until proven otherwise. The major subject Cowherd brings up regarding the Steelers about rebuilding their Offensive Line's is a fair point though one that is not factual even though Dan Moore, Kendrick Green, Trai Turner and Zach Banner did not turn out as many of us would have hoped.

This non sense about Offensive Coaches being better than Defensive Coaches because of the modern NFL Landscape though is a bunch of nothing. :lolol: It isn't always about having an Offensive Minded Coach vs a Defensive Minded One but rather which Franchise possess the better Roster, Stability and Coaching Staff. Focusing on one aspect without the others is merely what shock jocks like Cowherd enjoy; make the narrative they create reflect on the medium they cover to reinforce their opinion.

I'm not sure where he gets his info. Below doesn't include all the OL brought in the last season and this coming season. I think Steelers have done a great job at filling needs on both sides without typically drafting high.

    2023 1 Broderick Jones 14 OL
    2023 2 Joey Porter Jr. 32 CB
    2023 2 Keeanu Benton 49 NT
    2023 3 Darnell Washington 93 TE
    2023 4 Nick Herbig 132 OLB
    2023 7 Cory Trice 241 CB
    2023 7 Spencer Anderson 251 OL

    2022 1 Kenny Pickett 20 QB
    2022 2 George Pickens 52 WR

    2022 3 DeMarvin Leal 84 DT
    2022 4 Calvin Austin 138 WR
    2022 6 Connor Heyward 208 TE

    2022 7 Mark Robinson 225 LB
    2022 7 Chris Oladokun 241 QB

I agree that QB is where it's at in the modern NFL. Cowherd is right about that. I don't think we're ever gonna see another '00 Ravens or '02 Bucs or '85 Bears! But the '05, '08 Steelers, '07, '11 Giants and '13 Seahawks won with great D's. And the '12 Ravens...*fart*

Basically, get the next good to great QB. Build the team around that QB. Hopefully KP can develop into a good to great QB.

At some point defenses need to be able to stop the opposition. As good as the Chief's offense was last season they were in a lot of close games. Especially during the post season. There is still a place for defense in the NFL.

I’ll toss in 76 Steelers knowing it’s a different era but every defensive starter somewhere in their career was an pro bowl/ all pro at least once

    5 that season

They gave up 28 points in the last 9 games

He's just inflaming people to keep relevant. I don't watch his show. Just find him annoying.

As has been pointed out by many, the Steelers have done an awful lot for the offense. No need to go into detail.

The area i'm most concerned about is run defense right up the middle. Take notes Cowherd. They addressed MLB but I need to see it in action to feel better.

It's pretty cool I was checking out old Steeler games on YouTube. Pretty fun watching the Steel Curtain in action. They looked like they were lining 9 people up at the line at times lol. Kill mode

yes QB is important but there are other ways to win as well. defense has to at least be solid and playing solid at the end of the season. the QB doesn't have to do it all, but giving him good players all around him just makes him better and we have done that. health all year makes or breaks teams more often than not. ball control and 7's over 3's will create good outcomes.

Great Defenses can still be even found in today's NFL. The Bill's for the past three seasons have been very favorable. Another would be the likes of Sam Francisco. To your point though, are the 2021 Bill's the same as say, the 2015 Broncos?!

    Oh absolutely not.

They also drafted Benton and signed Fehoko and Watts, all interior defensive linemen.

My thoughts on this revolve almost entirely around the QB position. If your top paid player on your team is your QB... then you should spend a lot of money on your offense. If its not, then you spend on defense (specifically you need to buy turnovers). How do you win games in the NFL if you don't have a top 5 QB? Get solid QB play (aka no turnovers) and have a defense that creates splash plays (turnovers, sacks, etc.). The bulk of our money is invested in Minkah, Watt, and Heyward. Those 3 guys do exactly that.

We don't have a bona fide stud at QB yet. KFP might be that guy... but he isn't that yet. We have invested a lot of draft capital recently in the offense (KFP, Harris, Freiermuth, Pickens, Jones, Washington) and also added Seumalo, Daniels, and Robinson via FA and trade. Our guys are just young. If KFP is that dude and ends up being a top 5-10 QB, then I would expect 5ish years from now that our team has a significantly higher percent of our cap hit invested in the offense. Simple as that. Its not a hard formula to figure out, the talking heads just need to have something to talk about.

Cowherd looks and talks like a squishy mouthed pedo . Don't listen to him much because he is irritating and I have better things to do.

I maybe thinking of a different show, but wasn't she a sister to a former NFL player (I think he was a Dolphin)? If its the one I'm thinking of she was one of the few females I found truly engaging.

Problem is this Canada led offense is the poster child for 3s after a long drive. Not winning in this day and age with that approach.
