Great list. Hard to argue. Although Aaron Smith just got the job done over, and over again with no fanfare. He deserves some kudos for that.

I agree, it is easy to forget that during that decade there were a few really decent players.

Sports Illustrated back in the 70’s said John Banaszak was the 5th best DL in the league and he sat on the bench

Edit: It may have been Steve Furness

In 1974 Ernie Holmes had 11.5 sacks, LC Greenwood had 11, Joe Greene had 10 and Dwight White had 8.5. That's 41 sacks from just the front four.

The fact that L.C. Greenwood is still not in Canton is absolute BS. Hopefully with the inclusion of either Big Ben, Kevin Colbert or ideally both, LC can get his due. Not sure how much longer will he have to wait.

"Hollywood Bags" was about as legendary as any pass rusher in the 1970s as one is going to get. What is made even worse is that the front four of arguably the games greatest ever defense in the "Steel Curtain" still does not have two of their Defensive Lineman members in Canton yet.

Let me repeat that; the Dallas "Doomsday Defense", the "Purple People Eaters" and the "Fearsome Foursome" of the Rams, all have both their DT and DE in Canton. The Steel Curtain remains the only one from the 1970s to only feature one of two....

    Again...
