Oh he definitely tried to but Jets got the player they wanted. Douglas literally listed the order of their board.

If Jones was their target then they’d have traded up feeling thats what the Steelers would do, why would he sit tight.

Doesn’t matter, we got the player we wanted and recouped the draft pick.

Jets would not have passed on Broderick, how could they.

Why Jets offensive line could be Aaron Rodgers' kryptonite, preventing New York from making Super Bowl run

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nf...w-york-from-making-super-bowl-run/ar-AA1bZyoS

Rodgers is going from one of the best offensive lines in football to one of the worst.

New York ranked third worst in Pro Football Focus' pass block grade last season, while the Packers were third best. Rodgers' line has actually ranked in the top half of the NFL in pass blocking by PFF in 13 straight seasons.

Becton could be slotted in at left tackle after playing only one game in the past two seasons while battling injuries. He was an above-average tackle in 2020, per PFF grades, while the Jets' other three OT options were among the worst in the league last year. Brown, Billy Turner and Max Mitchell ranked 69th, 70th and 71st, respectively, among 81 qualified tackles in PFF grades last season.

Sitting tight could have just meant that they didn't see enough of a gap among those players to warrant giving up a draft pick to move up to get one of them.

Williams was an undrafted free agent who spent time on the Eagles' practice squad last season, so he is probably just a camp body.

Will McDonald IV is still by no means a bad player. For me, I had him going in the late 1st as his ability to bend the edge is the best in the class; surpassing even Will Anderson Jr. I do believe that McDonald can be a 4-3 DE but he would have been best suited to start out his career as a 3-4 OLB where he can let both his burst and bend shine early and often.

Joe Tippmann should have been selected within the Top 40; John Michael Schmitz the same. Both of those two, along with Luke Wypler are Top 50 talents... easy. Luke's drop though is very intriguing to me though.

Yup. I think the Jets had a good draft, on paper. They also got Warren in the 3rd who is a very good pass blocking tackle. I don’t think Douglas got played at all, looks like he knew exactly what he was doing. Got McDonald and addressed the line the next two rounds picking up some good players.

I saw where they said with this tackle or any tackle, this would give them 3 full offensive lines.

If there is a major question mark for the Jets it is Mehki Becton. Despite his weight, I was a massive (no pun intended) fan of his coming out of Loiusville. That said though, basically shattering your kneecap while having a major knee injury does not assist your development in a League where all aspects are continually changing at warp speed.

Aaron Rodgers could technically be considered a concern but I will let that scenario play itself put as opposed to pass judgment early. Yes, Aaron did not play well at all last season and there is good enough evidence to suggest that he still needs time to develop his chemistry with his new Receiving Corps. All that said, it is a new season.

That's to get through camp and preseason. 4 QBs to work. 3 preseason games 2 on the road. There will be extra linemen kept with the extra two on game day from the practice squad allowed.

It is behind The Athletic's paywall, but Kobaly wrote a good explanation of how the Steelers would like the secondary to function, including why it made sense to prioritize keeping Kazee over Edmunds. They want someone who can play more center field and free up Fitzpatrick to take a more aggressive approach that can lead to more big plays.

Probably he was on the practice squads for the Eagles and Lions last year. What he has going for him is that he's only 25, has 10.5" hands and 36" arms and he is 6'6" and weighs 308. Could be a practice squad guy again this year.

Exactly. Tyson is 36 years old, time for him to hit the retirement button on his remote.

And don't count Adams out just yet, Dunbar was singing his praises during OTAs. I am excited to see Fehoko and Benton play NT.
