Many may have missed that we are signing CB chandon sullivan. I see this as probably equal to the addition of Levi Wallace last year. 31 starts. He came in with Philly and then 3 years with GB, then last year with the Vikings. I know the draft was on the front burner and this was under the radar. Another nice move by the front office. I'm pretty happy with our defensive backfield going forward. We have a lot added to a pretty decent group that was here. They added to every level of the defense.

Sounds like he will be competing with Maulet for the slot.

Maulet is good in run defense. I can see them using several different looks.

Yeah, the defense is going to be massively different from last year.

That’s like complementing a center fielder for being good at bunting

    DBs need to cover

Someone posted that they read fans from the Vikings board say he stinks, meh. He might, but sometimes a change in environment and scheme can elevate something in a man. I actually know nothing him, just love the fact in the middle of the draft they are still working FA's. lol

I don't mind them adding these pieces to the defensive secondary but I'm still upset that they let Mike Hilton go, especially to the Bengals. I wish they would have did more to try and keep him a Steeler.

Maulet's roster spot could be in trouble.

Possibly. Coverage is not his strong suit. Curious to see is they release Witherspoon for cap savings. They may add another even after signing Sullivan.

Me too, one thing you can say about Mike Hilton, he has great football instincts which not all secondary players have.

Arthur Moats did a good analysis of Sullivan - he seems to think he's a great pick up.

I am a big concerned that the Steelers signed one starting corner and the nickelback from what was one of the worst secondaries in the league last season.

I honestly do not know enough about him, Mac said he had a couple of decent years in GB. We have never seen a guy who was actually pretty good, or even decent with another team, come here and suck up the joint..oh wait, how many in the past 3 years? lol Sometimes a guy just signs into the wrong system, it's definitely a need, we just have a go with the flow and see what happens.

You look at the money with today's CAP and it would be a no brainer, but that year was the covid CAP cut, we were massively over and just tried to get enough room to field a team.

One thing to keep in mind is the Steelers have a better pass rush than Minnesota does, that pressure could make them look a lot better, if Peterson can get 5 ints like he did in 2022 that would work.

I don't see the point of even bringing Witherspoon to camp, they added three CBs last week, release Witherspoon and take the cap savings.

Only played 4 games last season with nagging hamstring injuries. That 4 mill i'm sure could help in bringing in someone to contribute.

According to PFR he grades out very similar to Mike Hilton. I don't see that as a bad thing. And the Steelers scheme may actually improve his play.
