Might be sliding Herbig there and letting Leal take up edge duties, so they have edge rotation and Herbig learning off-ball while getting reps at edge as well

I think he was hurt against Penn State. I remember that game.

It kind of looks to me the Heyward and Watt bros are in a potential position for release.

Heyward is in a rookie contract so less likely.

They have like 3 Fbs and 3 TEs (4 if Heyward is counted)... Canada suggested a switch of Heyward to FB.

    They just signed Gentry pre-draft.

I don't get the FB. We hardly use them as is. Especially now that we're probably going to be running a lot more 12 personnel.

It's strategic, they don't want anybody outshining Mitch on the bench

Yeah, to me, carrying a dedicated FB is dumb. They barely see the field. As I mentioned, we're probably going to see a lot more 12 personnel as is. Heyward can be your fullback/H-back/Rb/TE/slot guy. Plus Roberts also was playing both ways in Miami as their FB.

Watt couldn't be more redundant. Unless it's just to keep TJ happy?

yea, if anything Conner showed he was a football player, period. I don't know how he did on sp teams, but he just a guy you don't hear a lot about, until you hear something good.

Really interested to see how they use and develop Leal, in several different comment sites he was the forgotten man. I actually like it, I hope to see great strides for him this year.

Derek's contract is up so he isn't currently on any team. I haven't seen anything about him getting offers but 2 young kids, family settled in in Pittsburgh, closer to Wisconsin, he might be waiting to see if Pittsburgh gives him a call on a one year deal.

With Washington, the Steelers will go more two TE sets, so they will still not use the fullback. I could see Washington lining up in the slot, going in motion, and it will like a pulling guard getting a running start and upload_2023-4-30_8-57-18.jpeg goes the cornerback.

Because there’s no such thing as a 22 personnel grouping

thanks was not aware of that. I like him as a player but unless he can play MLB I don't think there is room on the roster

Watt, yes, but Connor Heyward isn’t going anywhere. He’s a player and showed enough promise last year to give him even more opportunities this upcoming season.

I love TJ, but his highest paid D player in the league should be plenty to keep him happy and if it isn’t then even he can go pound sand. He makes enough where he could hire his brother to be his house boy and they can see each other everyday after practice.

It would be grounds to fire anyone who would suggest they waste a roster spot and $1.00 of cap money to make Watt happy.

I love the idea of having qualified family on the team if it makes sense in the structure of their scheme because I imaging there are real intangible benifits. But NOT just to make another player happy. I don’t think that happens in PITTSBURGH.
