    Favorite - Alex Kazora (sp)

Least fav - Jerry Dulac. Not sure how or why this guy has earned his supposed insider bonafides, but I think he’s wrong more than he’s right.

And he’s a salty curmudgeon to boot. Normally I kinda enjoy those types, but I guess not in Steelers reporting. Kinda like that other grump who does the Q and A on the Steelers website.

I find it ironic that reporters often don’t like evasive, sarcastic, or salty responses from players and coaches when guys like this are exactly that same way with fans. Bad questions are exclusive to the fan base - these people often do ask the worst questions. Often times knowing they are going to get a lame boiler plate or pissy response; so ask ones that might garner better substantiative answers.

I don't have a favorite. Some have voices I can't handle, but none of them are always right, or wrong....,, and some become friends with some players, and those players can never do wrong.

He’s not a beat writer but I like Stan Savran

I have a hard time forcing myself to read anything written by Mark Madden and if he’ comes on the radio I change channels

Kozora isn’t a beat writer, he has no access to the team but I do like his opinions and film breakdown.

I like Fittipaldo for beat writer, don’t always agree with him but feel he is better than the rest.

Yeah, I just used beat writer in a more generic and broader sense. That and because this thread was really to gripe about Dulac and what a codger he is. He actually is an insider and beat writer by definition who has great access and often far to wrong on stuff more that he should considering proximity.

Stan is one of those guys from the old days, when you got cable and had more than one channel from an antenna lol. Well maybe not that old, but seeing Bill Currie and Sam Nover for the first time after only having one station out of Erie all my life was mind blowing. I could actually hear comments and interviews from my beloved Steelers and Bucs! Later when cable sports channels became standard, then even local expanded Stan was the go to guy...Evening Stan, love the show! Lol

    Lololol…

I don’t know, he probably did. Just add it to his list of wrongs. Unless that blowhards comments are blasted out in neon and I can’t help but see it, I just pass by his writing and takes.

I forgot to mention that I’m also on team Pittsburgh dad. I know the base is pretty split on him. I feel like I know a few of those types of fellas and appreciate his over the top caricature of his old man.

But I also see why the character annoys people too.

    Lighten up Francis!

Chris Carter of the PG is my favorite. Actually the bulk of these younger guys that do podcasts are great. I'm unsure how much access to the team a Noah Strickland or Nick Farabaugh has, but like a Kozora, they're great at what they do. Steelers media is in good hands for the next 30ish years assuming some of these guys don't go national, and I'm sure a couple will.

Least favorite, probably a Ed Bouchette. Just past his time. Was great when I was growing up 30 years ago.

I truly believe that if the Steelers win the SB this year that Mark Madden would still find misery in the moment.

I haven't lived in Pittsburgh for over 35 years so I don't know the local guys very much to comment on any of them but when I do go back and he happens to be on the TV it's painfully difficult to watch.

Thankfully Mark Madden isn't a beat guy. He's just a radio sports shock jock and essentially a paid blogger for the Trib and Beaver County Times. The guy probably never did a feature in his life. Even his hero, Ric Flair, hates him.

Given how far off Dulac was last year, that would be a good sign for them to take a tight end if he did. :)

He lost so much of my respect with the way he handled that. In the days leading up to the draft, he insisted there was only one quarterback the Steelers would take in the first round. Then on draft day, he wrote that it was Willis. Okay. He got bad information. It happens. Instead of just saying nothing or admitting as much, he started writing about the Steelers having first-round grades on more than one quarterback. So full of ****.

Some people like listening to someone who will piss them off. They find being trolled entertaining. I do not understand why that is. Madden knows it, too. He has done some wrestling broadcasting and he is very much the sports radio version of a heel. It's no wonder he worships Ric Flair.

Some of it is real. Some of it is theater. All of it is worthless. I won't read anything he writes. He will get no clicks from me. He's not the worst person I met in the Pittsburgh sports media, but that's only because I met Tom Rose before he was arrested and one other guy I won't mention. But in terms of the actual work he produces, I have a hard time thinking of someone I respected less than Madden.
