Which Steeler player/s do you see us trying to trade to get a fifth and sixth round pick?

Dotson and Marcus Allen and Gunner would be my guess. Could be possibly more.
Who are yours? Addition by subtraction.

Dotson is the most likely candidate. We are already thin at wr and kick returner so can’t see them trading gunner. Allen is a dime a dozen player. If someone were to offer a 5th or 6th for him they would jump at the chance. However, that isn’t happening.

Dotson is the only one with trade value. Dont think anyone would give anything up for Gunner and Allen.

Other than that, DJ’s name has been mentioned but think there is zero chance they’d do that. He’d get a second round pick if they did.

Dotson. Allen is an unsigned free agent.

Dotson, gunner, green, witherspoon, mitch, harvin, norwood, killebrew. This should get us at least one 6th rounder.:smiley1::cool:

I agree with those names, but couldn’t get all that excited about it, as anything after the fourth round is about the same talent level as UDFA anyway. It can be done, especially when injuries happen to another team in camp right before the season starts, and a team is not deep at that position. It mostly gets rid of salaries of personnel you weren’t going to use and frees up roster spots as you cut down.

    I don't have any idea....Honestly I haven't thought about it.
I've been so focused on the 17, 32, 49, and 80 draft selections, or as I like to think of them....CB, S, OLB, and DL....LoL If We hit those ....I don't think We have to worry.

Trubisky isn't going anywhere. They would have done it already and gone after a veteran backup.

Killebrew is cheap and a stud on special teams. They already lost too many pieces there.

I don't think Gunner, Green, Witherspoon, Harvin, or Norwood have any trade value. If Khan can steal a draft pick for any of them, I'd be thrilled, but I'm not sure any other team is that stupid.

Dotson seems like the only realistic trade option to get a draft pick.

they lost watt, boykin, snell, and allen. they still have robinson, crowder, muse, probably now miller if he makes that 5th WR spot, heyward, riley if he sticks, pierre, roche, the draft picks. they really haven't lost that much on ST's. they should be able to replace most if not all of what they lost.

What about Mason Cole, assuming we get JMS in the 2nd? I really like Cole and hope he doesn't get traded. But looking at a few of these C's makes me suspicious the Steelers want to upgrade C.

Can Herbig be the backup center if Cole is traded?

I mentioned it after they signed those two guards in free agency, about trading Dotson to try and get a 5th or 6th round pick.

Daniels has plenty of reps as C, so that's probably the backup C with Herbig going into the lineup.

I think if we are fortunate enough to draft Schmidt, Cole and Dotson are traded.

Dotson is possible. We won’t trade Mitch without a viable back up on the roster, although he would definitely bet us a pick. Witherspoon could potentially get us something, but doubtful unless we draft a corner high. The rest aren’t worth a pick in trade value. I’d expect Gunnar, Harvin, and Killebrew to all miss the final roster and could be picked up via waivers prior to week 1.

You will be lucky to get a 7th round pick for Dotson. We just replaced him with a free agent at his starting position, and then replaced him as the backup guard with another free agent.

No idea why people think Dotson is worth a mid round pick?

No, Tomlin has always made it clear that he hates to have his backup center in the starting lineup. Herbig will be your backup center/guard in 2023.

Although, if Luke Wypler is still on the board at #80; I would love to see him in the #53 jersey next year.

Does Herbig have NFL reps as C? Daniels does.

witherspoon and dotson and green as a group with one of our 7th's. may net us a 5th or 6th. if so i would love to get makhi blackmon the corner from USC.

What is the thinking there? That if you trade Witherspoon, Dotson, and a seventh-rounder, that would net a fourth-round pick in return, but the Steelers have to pay the other team to take Green? :)

i know just reaffirming. it's really a shame he's still here really. with the additions we have made there is no reason to keep him except for preseason as a body.

Agreed. I would have rather seen them keep Hassenauer. If they do end up drafting an interior offensive lineman, of course, Green is gone. Hey may be cut anyway.

i expect we keep mccollum around as that emergency 3rd center anyway on the PS. they have put in some looks at the top 4 centers in this draft. one thing about it and dumping green would be cole's versatility to play just about any spot on the line if needed. again a reason to get rid of green, he's just taking up a spot of better players.
