I think to get the most out of the young offense they need an upgrade at OC. Yes things improved be em execution or growing up some but the scheme ain’t maximizing the talent or attempting to improve the areas lacking of talent. Some things are just that glaringly obvious.

 

This place is unreal. We beat a bunch of sub 500 crappy teams to end the season and now Matt Canada is a good coordinator

 

What’s unreal is people like you. You watch every game and then discuss the games, but still can’t figure out where the issues are. Offensive linemen gets called for illegal man down field on an rpo and you blame the lineman. Ignore the fact that it’s actually the qb to blame. The lineman are run blocking the whole way. They don’t have the luxury of looking back and seeing the qb pulled the ball and decided to throw.

 

I saw alot of dumb play calls at the wrong time. I think Canada absolutely sucks. Take care.

 

That example is a fair point but if you can’t see how Matt Canada is way over his head at this level it’s a pointless conversation. His offense has no creativity no splash and no chance to ever score enough against elite teams to be a contender. If we really think KP is the future we owe it to him to get a real OC

I don't even care about TD passes....if we had 40 rushing! the RZ O sucked, one of the worst in the league. had NO IDEA or creativity what to do down there. and the pre-snap penalties and lack of discipline was pathetic, all season long

It’s a complex situation with many factors. Quality of coaches, experience of coaches, talent of coaches, quality of players, experience of players, talent of players.

The Steelers have a young offense with some gaps in talent. They have an inexperienced coach that appears to lack talent.

Did he not install a more complex game plan because he cannot make one or because his players aren’t ready?

Look at Pickens, it was mentioned by several announcers that he doesn’t have the full route tree yet. When he does, his targets will increase. Apply that logic to others on the offense.

Back to coaching. Andy Reid has been making creative offensive plans for a long time in this league. He has the talent and experience. In the Super Bowl vs Bucs when the O line had injuries he could fall back on those things to call a successful game.

So, it’s both coaches and players. The question is, does Matt Canada have the talent to grow with his own experience and that of his players? Or are we seeing his ceiling?

Either way, Ben and Pouncey know it takes both. They criticized Canada but also complimented them. Probably not looking to make waves, but that’s how people react.

 

Players basically never throw their coaches under the bus. Even most former players don't. Players always defend their coaches and put the blame on themselves. So a player saying it's not the coaches fault, that's typical and expected.

 

If Canada goes what would happen to all the creative pointless motions or when we finally get a big play next play is a gadget play?

who is to blame when a player misses a block? Throws an interception? Fumbles? Misses a tackle? Misses a field goal? Shanks a punt?

 

More to the point.

Your longest pass play is something the Rookie QB saw the Saints do against the Browns and suggested it put in a game plan. Not something you already had, not something you adjusted as the OC. The Rookie is figuring out how to adjust a Game Plan for specific defenses tendencies.

It's telling that the Browns game had more receivers catching balls with room to work after the catch.

 

Has it been confirmed that Canada's system does not allow for audibles? I know there was a story or two about it.
