No. That's not what I see you and Shannon doing.....;)
Just because Shannon was a good player and has a big mouth doesn't mean he knows anything more than anyone else. He can't even speak English!

No, a guy who was great at the TE position. If he wants to talk about being almost as good as Kellen Winslow or Tony Gonzales, I'll try and decipher what he says. Otherwise? Can't be bothered.

This. Ward is my favourite player of all time. He deserves to be in the HOF. But I don't need to discount other HOF worthy players. Guys like Holt, Wayne, Johnson, etc. were incredible WR's. They played the game differently than Ward. They didn't do some of the same things he did, but at the same time, they were considered tops at their position at various points in time, which Ward never was. That hurts his case, whether we like it or not.

I agree. Ward will always be on of the top Steelers players, let alone receivers, for what he embodied.

That’s always going to be difficult to compare to a Holt or even a Flipper Anderson when it comes to HOF voting.

Im fine with that, though. It doesn’t diminish what Ward achieved or what he means to the Steelers.

He didn't just need to know what he was doing. He had to know what others were doing on any given play. He has to know defensive concepts so he can know what to do against certain coverages. He has to know protections as that's part of his job. So he knows more about football then just being a great TE.

I don't know what your love affair with that big mouth is. Daddy issues?
I liked Sharpe as a player but, if I want knowledgeable input about football, I'll listen to a good ex-coach. You know, someone who knows ALL the positions.

They aren't the only people who know all positions.

Shannon Sharpe certainly isn't someone who does!
