This take of yours aged very poorly. I'll give you credit not ducking it now that the team has a real shot at the playoffs going into the final game of the season, but doubling down now just makes you look ridiculous.

I’ve said from the beginning getting into the playoffs to get destroyed by the Bills or Chiefs isn’t worth it. I’m over the one and dones. So barring some miracle I’ll be correct.

I agree. If we make the playoffs there's no chance of winning. The game would just be a formality. Therefore we should just forfeit. Actually we should forfeit this sunday's game against Cleveland also.

If Tomlin was smart he'd just forfeit every game next season also, along with every following season. We'd never win another game, but we'd always get the top draft pick every year. Wouldn't that be great?!

    SDOT, you're a genius!

Matters who's still on the draft board at that time.
Yes what You say makes sense, but if it's someone they really want sitting there at that point....

Not every 9-7/9-8 season/ 1 n done should be treated equally. With this team you have a lot very young nucleus that would benefit greatly from an extra week of practice and game reps. Unlike the past 4 seasons, this team actually has an identity that they're building upon. Tanking would've taken away from the potential growth that we're currently seeing and Kenny is showing more and more flashes that we wouldn't have seen in a tank.

It's obvious this team needs help in obvious areas (cb/lb/dl/ol). There's still quality guys out there in each of those levels of defense and OL at 15 or 16 or wherever, and there's solid chances of someone falling to us that we all dreamed of at 5 or 6. There's around 4 QBs likely going in the top ten plus guys like Will Anderson and a WR and a few edge picks go, meaning I think it's very possible a Bresee, Paris Johnson, Jordan Addison or Skorski is on the board. Not all of them obvious, but someone we really like will be.

No, you won't. That is your opinion, one that ignores context. They were never going to have a top-five pick. The easier part of the schedule was still to come.

More importantly, they have an extremely young offense. They were able to do things they can build on that season. That wouldn't be the case if they tanked. Harris and Warren are developing into a strong one-two punch in the running game. Freiermuth continued to develop. So did Pickens. So did the offensive line. Most importantly, Kenny Pickett wasn't great, but he made steady progress and demonstrated that he can be their franchise quarterback. All of that has value going forward.

From a wider perspective, you are missing everything that this team went through, starting with the death of an active Steeler before it even started. They also had to deal with the retirement of their Hall of Fame quarterback and their long-time general manager. That was followed by Stephon Tuitt's decision to call it quits, then the devastating injury to T.J. Watt. Throw in the foot injury that pretty much ruined the first half of the season for Harris and this team faced a great deal of adversity, but still managed to rally and have a chance at the playoffs the final week of the season. Those are things they can build on, too.

They need to add to the ILB room, none of those guys they have can cover.

I was talking about maybe trading down like five spots, a lot of trades seem to happen with those early second round picks.

Loudermilk is still under contract in 2023, and he's cheap so I think he will be back.

So, Tomlin is supposed to tell veterans like Heyward and TJ they want to tank for a top 5 pick, your plan is beyond stupid .

right now we have 5 picks of the first 118, thats premium. At 15 you should be able to get a good pick, especially with all the clamor of QB's possibly going early. That said if you could still get a 15 or better in the 2nd and get another 4th, then you have to consider it.

Loudermilk is still an enigma. IDK if its been injuries, but except for a time or 2 his name being mentioned as decent, nothing has really clicked. Being he has 2 years left on a rookie deal you hope the 3rd year is the time he steps up.

I hate to stick up for SDOT but I don't think he meant that Tomlin should just come out and tell Cam and TJ to tank. If Tomlin wanted to tank he'd just have Canada run both the offense AND defense. Same result but less obvious.

Hmmm, on 2nd thought maybe it would be just as obvious.

Whoever tells Cam and TJ that they have to tank better do it by text. If they told them in person they better have a good life insurance policy.

Why? has he impressed you with his play in the two years he has been here? Just because he is on a rookie contract doesn't improve our roster.
We need added quality depth to compete with the Bill's KC, Cincy, etc.

I kinda want to agree. But that just may be too many spots to fill. ATM there's Heyward, Leal, Adams and Loudermilk for 2023. You almost have to resign Ogunjobi and draft two DL next year. And also has to think about the inevitable retirement of Heyward. If there's better guys in the open market at the right price, I obviously sign them up and move on from Loudermilk. But there's no guarantees that there will be one that's willing to come here.

Another thought on a different note, do the Steelers look at Edge in the 3rd or 4th round to start looking at a replacement for Highsmith. '23 will likely be his last year in Pittsburgh. I really don't see the Steelers spending the money to keep in tahn, much like the Bud Dupree situation a few years back.

Why engage in this debate? This is the equivalent of trying to use logic to convince Jeffrey Dahmer that eating people is wrong.

*apologies if my post offends anyone who has had a loved one eaten by a cannibal.

They will probably lose Larry O, Alalu, and Wormley in the offseason, Loudermilk didn't get much of a chance this season, it's too early to give up on him.

Should be remembered that the other choice in the Claypool trade was Green Bay. Both teams were 3-5 when the trade was made, and now it looks like Green Bay could be picking mid-20's and Chicago will either be 1 or 2.

Not remotely correct. Baring a serious step back next season, they have their QB in Pickett and a young team gains valuable playoff experience.

Seriously this playing for a better draft pick argument has been destroyed six ways to Sunday. None more than Elvis when posting the history of first rd picks.
