Wait. When did this happen? Where was I? LOL. Actually I was the only one in my household who remained in the living room watching this game, My Dad and brothers went in their bedrooms and my Mom went and did laundry cause they couldn't stand to see what appeared to be a sure loss. They thought I had stabbed myself when they heard me shouting and screaming at the TV in joy! The first unofficial/official replay in NFL history! (They swear nobody went to watch the replay). It seemed like it took an hour for the refs to sort it all out. Maz's walkoff and Franco's miracle are surefire reasons to be and always remain a Pittsburgh sports fan. :thumbs up:

I was only 10 months old at the time, but I think I heard something about this.

I think you're both bluffing and just trying to make JEH, Hanratty, Ward, Animus and myself feel really old. Knock it off or we won't let you use our Captain Video Decoder Ring.

Edit - Add Hog, MyTake and maybe Mac to the list.

The AFL in 68,no cable and only the NBC station in Erie. They played a lot of raiders games and Fred Belitnicoff (sp) was from Erie..so my folks got me a raiders Helmut for Christmas. Got cable on 70, started to watch Pittsburgh Stations and the emergence of the Steelers. That game though, that moment forever sealed my heart. To this day Francos is the only jersey I own..present from 3 years ago.

I was in high school kicking butt and taking names and witnessed this. Seems like two lifetimes ago.

THIS! I too was in the living room, my brothers teasing me that the Steelers were about to lose. When Franco scored, I was screaming so loud my mom thought I had hurt myself. Even as a 10-year old, I knew the rule about two offensive players touching the ball in succession, but i knew as hard as Tatum hit Fuqua, that the ball never hit Fuqua. Thankfully, Tatum screwed up by going for the big hit, and not playing the ball.

I was 12 years young and my hometown team was transforming
Into the greatest dynasty in my life time. What a time to grow up,
The Steeler players were icons in our eyes.

At the risk of making some people feel old again, I do wish I'd been about 10 years older when this all happened. I really don't remember much of the dynasty of the '70s. I've read a lot about them and watched just about everything I can find about them, including some full games, but I didn't really get to experience them like that.

I guess I'll join Mojave's club. I was 15 and watching the game with my family, who were a mix of Charger and Raider fans. My oldest brother was busting my...........chops over the probable outcome of this game. At that time, I was disgusted with the Chargers and looking for a new team. I had already mostly chosen the Steelers but, this play cemented it! 50 years later, my brother is still a denier. I think he needs to fly into the Pittsburgh airport!

I was 31 and saw the whole thing as it unfolded. What a great recovery. I don’t think I Would be off the mark saying that John Madden went to his grave still thinking the ball hit the ground first. He had that argument for many years after.

Ten years old, watching with my folks. We erupted—shouting, laughing,… We heard noise and looked outside to see passing cars blowing their horns and neighbors celebrating in their yards.
