Perhaps not directly, but the development of all players on the roster is part of his job. His poor choices regarding assistant coaches are part of the problem. Canada is there because Tomlin wants him there.

This is pie in the sky. The Rooneys don’t work this way and Tomlin is leaving on his own terms. If Tomlin leaves I highly doubt it is for another coaching job. He would leave for a TV Job sort of like the next Tony Dungy and go off and write books and become a motivational speaker. In fact it appears to me thats the part about coaching Tomlin thrives on and likes the most which is leading men and building up men. I feel like he has kind of lost his luster for the x’s and O’s and the competitive challenges of the game. If we the ship isn’t righted in a few years I can definitely see Tomlin retiring.

I think Tomlin choice of Canada was to build mimic a team like the 49er’s. Canada was taunted as an innovative offensive coach. I don’t believe Canada has been the problem on offense at least since the bye. I think we just have an extremely inexperience and young offense and it takes time to grow and gel. The Offensive line and Kenny Pickett as well as the run game are all improving. We have a future star in Picket and Friermuth is a beast. I have a lot of optimism for the offense in the future. The defense on the other hand is a mess. TO me the Defense is Tomlin baby and he seems to be a lot more involved in the defense which scares me. He needs to get out of the way and just be a head coach and revise the defensive scheme so we can actually start proper team building on that side of the ball instead of just throwing bodies at the problems. You look at all three phases of the defense this year and we have essentially thrown bodies at Defensive Line, MLB and CB. We definitely lack personnel on the defense but the scheme is a mess as well and that is ALL on Tomlin.

Canada is still very much part of the problem. He has not done a good job creating passing schemes that get receivers open. He did not have the offense ready for the start of the season, not even close. His in-game play calls have gotten a little better, but I wouldn't say they are good. This isn't somebody like Haley are Arians creating opportunities for the skill players on offense to shine.

I felt the same way you did at the beginning of the year. But my thoughts on this have changed a little. I think we honestly need to give Canada more time with Pickett. They have been trending in the right direction. They did terrible in the beginning of the year because the Offensive line had to gel and we had young players in at a lot of different positions. Then you add a rookie QB to the mix and honestly how do you even know what you in offensive play calling and scheme with so much going on. Look at Denvers head coach. He was the offensive mastermind behind Aaron Rogers in GB and their success and Denver and Russell Wilson are completely failing. Does that mean he is still a bad offensive coordinator? Again, the bigger concern in my mind is the defense. We have essentially three chiefs in Tomlin, Flores and Austin contributing to the defense and we have a lot of money invested in it as well as a lot of veteran players and it is still performing horrible. They were touting how great the defense was going to be at the beginning of the year. I am concerned they really don’t have the answers or the direction in place on that side of the ball. It has seemed to have become a pattern in us not being able to stop the run consistently over the years. When we do commit to stopping the run we can’t stop the pass. Why can’t we figure out a defensive scheme where we can stop both equally well?

You lost me when you claimed that Nathaniel Hackett is the mastermind behind Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers became an elite NFL quarterback almost immediately after taking over as the Packers' starter in 2008. Hackett didn't even work with him at all until 2019, and even then, it was just implementing Matt LaFleur's offense. How was Hackett the mastermind behind the success of a quarterback who was a star in the league for over a decade before they ever even worked together?

QB whisperers. Man, they are gold.
    I had a chance to work with/around:
    Matt LeFluer
    Sean McVay
    Kyle Shanahan
    Norv Turner
    Kevin O'Connell
    a few others..
All in Washington, those guys were the bright light in an otherwise dismal setting.

I'm kind of changing my mind on Mike Sullivan. He's actually doing a good job working with Kenny.
Matt Canada, I just can't get on board with. I've not lit up a torch nor burning his effigies, but they can do better.

Canada very well could be extended and I’d bet he is. If I was Rooney or Kahn I’d fire both the OC and DC and hire someone that has been successful in the NFL and of Tomlin don’t like that I’d fire him too. 3 playoff wins in 12 years blows anyone can achieve that

Good point. Rogers was already established. But on the flip side so was Russell Wilson and he is faltering under a coach who previously had offensive success. Russell has proven to be an All Pro QB in the past so my point in referencing him is even All Pro QB’s can falter or take time to grasp a new system. With so many moving parts on offense such as the age of it, Rookie WR’s, free agents on the offensive line and a rookie QB I think introducing a new Offensive Coordinator at this point could just mess up everyones continuity and development.

Wilson wasn't in a new system when he struggled in 2021, so this may just be him on the decline.

Also, Hackett just isn't a good coach. Ask anybody who pays close attention to the Broncos. He is a disaster. How much does an offensive coordinator really do with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback and LaFleur as head coach, anyway?

Well If we replace Canada next year, that means Pickett has to learn a whole new system plus that would be both Coordinators would be replaced because we better replace Austin. The defense is the bigger problem right now.

Yes thats a tree I would like to pick from. Tomlin won’t do it, my only assumption is he would be threatened by it.
