Two years ago the Eagles only won 4 games, now they're undefeated and a favorite to reach the Super Bowl.

Totally agree....if things are done correctly, and with a bit of Luck.....a team can turn it around Quickly in the NFL. Just look at the Bengals....from 4- 11-1 one year....SB the next.

Yeah it’s easy… Don’t let Tomlin in the room or have any say.

I agree, but the Steelers need to be hitting on their draft picks. 2022 draft looks like it has some potential. 2021 picks are a mixed bag, after initially looking like good picks. 2020 picks, I still include Fitzpatrick as a part of that draft, but with Claypool gone, hopefully the 2023 pick will be a plug and play selection. Bush in 2019, looks worse because of the injury. The draft needs to produce more difference makers.

They need like three plug and play picks in the 2023 draft, their first rounder and those two second rounders.

Imagine if they traded Tomlin (and maybe Flores) for a few more first round pics and hire Sean Peyton with all of that pedigree firepower!!!

Payton underachieved himself in New Orleans, all those years with Brees and that homefield advantage they only went to one Super Bowl.

It’s also interesting that the turnaround coincided with a head coaching change. :hmm:

It’s time, maybe past time, for a head coaching change in Pittsburgh.

Speaking of quick turnarounds, who was responsible for the 11-0 start a few short years ago? Albeit, many in these parts called the Steelers the worst 11-0 team in the history of the NFL.....and yes it came crashing down quickly, but it breaks both ways.

I think a good draft gets you 2 starters by the end of year 1 and 2 more starters a year or two later. Plus at least 3 backups or special team guys .

On average 6 or 7 picks and then UDFA so maybe 12 to 14 potential players that should result in 6 or 7 new bodies every year .

Out of curiosity when NE was dominant year after year I looked at a few years of their drafting .
One year they had 7 draft picks and 7 more UDFA for a total of 14 players 9 made the 53 man roster and 2 went on the practice squad.

To become dominant again we need draft a hell of a lot better and not reach for corner/safties or undersized LB's or waist picks on 7th rd QB or punters.
A few times in the recent past we have seen guys cut before the end of training camp.
Who was the last decent corner the Steelers drafted and developed maybe Ike Taylor.
Somehow we can turn over a garbage can and find a WR but have missed terribly with corners.

Won one Super Bowl - not just “went”.

Do you remember that string of insanely bad post season calls the Saints had against them late in post season games that were monumental? Never mind the one he/they got in favor against us… Sean Payton should have a better legacy and he already has a pretty great one. Built some very good squads on both sides of the ball. Those calls were not average bad, they were crippling.

At least HE built his SB team!

Let’s say that he’s only as successful as Tomlin has been or hypothetically will be; then, what did we lose other than getting more drafted pedigree?

But he’s the best available option and a more than reasonable reply to all those “people” who say “who do we replace Tomlin with” or “he (Tomlin) will have a job before he he leaves the parking lot”. Good let him leave and have any other gig anywhere… I bet he’ll flame out. Not wishing, just betting.

Plus he would have a MUCH LARGER stack of draft picks than Tomlin than if Tomlin stays.

TRADE MIKE TOMLIN…!!! The NFL loves him 10x’s more than STEELERS fans.

Someone(s) on our scouting department is MONEY with WR’s and Stevie Wonder with CB’s.

Andy Wiedel is here to turn around our trenches. Let’s hope he can help with DB’s…

You can turn a team around very very quickly in the NFL if you use your draft and cap resources well.

One big caveat is that you need a QB and an offence that works. For the Steelers the transformation that would be needed to go from a bottom 3 offence to a top 10 probably cannot be done in one season barring a miracle.

Its not a one year fix. If they use the first 3 picks on plug and plays that's a good start.

They still need ILBer, OLBer, Strong Safety.

And someone to start opposite Sutton that's not a piece of burnt toast. The CB should be a priority in the FA market, a plug and play stud.

So you don't attribute any of their current success to bringing in a new HC? Pederson may have had a bad 2020 but he took the Eagles to the postseason each of the 3 years prior, was 4-2 in postseason with a Lombardi. Our guy hasn't won a postseason game since 2016 and only made the playoffs 3 times in that time and gotten embarrassed all 3 times and completely missed postseason the other 3 years. That kind of turnaround won't happen without a head coach change.

I remember the turnaround our defense made when we brought on Mikah. It seemed like it took the next game, and our D was reborn. JMO>

I think CB should be priority #1 in the draft. I'd almost rather pay an OL or two again. SS could be solved with a contract to Edmunds (or someone else) but we dont need a big money guy here. ILB would be great. OLB would be fine, but a starter isn't necessarily needed.

We really just need to get a top flight corner, a high end LT and probably another very good ILB. We get that done, we should be in really good shape going into next year. It COULD be a one year fix if Pickett improves at a high rate and we do great in FA and the draft. But its not guaranteed. It could be another year or so longer.

Should be the opposite. We seem to do better with FA CB and drafting lineman. If we use two of those first three pics on the line and one FA signing, they could turn that unit around real fast.

I want nothing to do with drafting CB’s. They are horrible at it. Keeping bring those in via free agency.

This. Sutton has been a surprise development. Like said the track record for drafting CB's is not a positive one.

    His
His point is fair and true regarding your OP... Tomlin has had this team a mess for quite awhile.
