Yeah, but that don’t count as a catch. There was nothing to challenge there.

Well…I’ll admit that I wasn’t aware of the rule and I actually thought it was a catch. Had it been a legal catch, darn right I would have blamed Tomlin and his staff for not challenging the flag. But they obviously know more than I do and didn’t throw the challenge flag. Somebody said he corrected himself later but last I heard Romo actually said that was a catch. I wondered about that all week and started the thread to see if I’d missed anything in the media about the non-challenge, knowing that some of my well-informed and knowledgeable fellow Steeler fans could enlighten me, and that’s what happened.

It’s all good. I wondered at the time of the play myself.

Yeah now that I understand the rule it was the right no call. Still hard to fathom that a hand doesn’t count as a body part when trying to remain in bounds.

It seems like a hand should count.

Would that mean a running back is down When he uses his hand to regain balance?

It doesnt count the same way as a hand down doesn't count when a tackle is attempted

Exactly. A runners knee or elbow makes contact with ground he’s down. If his hand does he can regain balance and keep going. So a hand is different that a knee.

Nothing wrong with that, but this is more a bash the NFL rules...

This is the stuff that drives me nuts. If a hand is not down in the NFL why can't a foot and a hand count before going out of bounds on a catch?

All I can picture in my head is this laminated sheet that has images that show what combination of body parts equal in for a catch or out for no catch.
