The missed challenge

Has anyone seen anything in the media this week about Tomlin’s failure to challenge that outstanding catch by George Pickens on Sunday? It seems that everyone is giving Tomlin a pass on that but it tells me there’s a disconnect between the booth and the sideline. He would have won that challenge, no doubt, but didn’t throw the challenge flag. I’d just like to know why? I realize the game was out of hand but they were driving and that might have given the team a little shot of momentum. Did our replay guy step away to go the bathroom or grab a hot dog?

I remember thinking the same thing but Romo did backtrack on the broadcast. The hand does not count as a second body part.

 

Well that answers my question. I would have sworn that a hand and a foot down in bounds was a catch. I guess the Steelers replay guy is smarter than I am after all.

Another let's bash Tomlin thread

Bash Tomlin thread? In a very broad sense initially and I'm sure it will eventually totally disintegrate into one but at face value it seems worthy of at least talking about. It seems small potatoes during a 30 pt beat down and most likely doesn't change anything but @JackAttack 5958 is saying why didn't they challenge it. Well the reason being a hand doesn't equal a second body part.

I had a similar question about the play where Minkah has possession on a pass going into the endzone and the Buffalo player rips it back and its a touchdown. I wanted to know what Minkah would have had to do to have it ruled an interception and touchback. Apparently going to one knee is the answer. Seems strange that plays can end by having the ball break the plane of the goalie immediately but it continues in the endzone until an offensive player gains possession, it falls incomplete or the defender has the ball and his knee must touch.

 

Also complaining about people talking about the subject ranks right up there with complaints in the game day thread about empty seats and Tomlin wasting timeouts in either half. If he gets to 30 seconds before the half or EOG and still has 3 time outs remaining do fans praise that? We got our asses kick by over 30 points but thank God Tomlin didn't waste some timeouts, that bonus check for having them the whole game will come in handy

We all know what his intent was, worrying about some challenge in a blowout loss, who cares?

 

And you get to make that determination? Should we all perform a check with you before posting?

 

This team is 1-4, and some of y'all are worried about a meaningless challenge in a blowout loss .

 

People can talk about whatever they like. By mid week sometimes an obscure discussion about a catch in the 30 pt beat down is better than a ridiculous 8 page thread about trading TJ for a haul of picks.
