Yeah, that was pretty sick.

 

Did I hear that correctly. Only English men are allowed to play in the league; no foreigners allowed?

When Rob and Ryan are talking to the Money Guy, they said one of the nice things about going up a league is that they will be allowed to bring in players that are not English.

So, no Americans, no Mexicans, no Africans, no........, will ever be allowed to play in this league. I don't know how I feel about that. Is that racist?

 

I did hear that but didn't put much thought into it. Would have to look into it to know for sure.

OK, so I also watch the F1 series Drive to Survive. It is great, because I don't follow F1 at all, so I do not have to worry about any spoilers when the season is actually going on.

Anyway Rob and Ryan just bought 21% of the Alpin Team. I wonder if they sold Wrexham after getting promoted?

 

I just finished season 3 and I will admit that it is weird to me that they don't have a playoff system over there. You just playout the regular season and the team with the most points is champion.

I wonder if the idea of "Playoffs" is an American thing?

Playoffs just mean more money for the house, kind of like the Double "00" for Vegas Casinos.

 

That Double "00" brought back an old embarrassing moment for me. Very first time in a Casino and was told by friend just do the color red or black on the Roulette wheel and you have a 50/50 chance. Zero idea what those green "0" and "00" had to do with the game. Put my money on red and "0" came up. I got pissed when she took half my chips. I was like what the heck you doing. Maybe got a bit loud and floor manager took me aside.

 

They do have a play off system. The teams finished 2nd to 7th play in the play offs with the winner getting promoted. I presume they didn't show it seeing as Wrexham won the league and didn't have to compete in the play offs.

 

Late reply but 'only English' is incorrect. Pretty much anyone can play in the league if they secure a work permit. Some nationalities may find it harder to secure a permit but even so, plenty of varied nationalities and cultures play in the division that Wrexham were in (the one during their first season of the documentary) and also the division above which they got promoted into.
