If Mitch wins the MVP... I would almost guarantee I will be dating Charlize Theron.

The ESPN round table guys have been pushing this theory for the last couple of days. Their saying after the Browns game the Steelers will be 0-3 or at best 1-2. They then have a 10 day mini bye until they play the Jets on October 2nd. During that mini bye Pickett will be named the starter for the Jets game. Of course if the Steelers are 2-1 at that point that all goes out the window.

As to the issue of not naming a starter maybe Tomlin is holding out for a last minute call from Ben stating he's coming back.;)

Sure don't feel like looking it up but I wonder how many of the 32 teams have the same starting QB as last season??

Right? I am actually super surprised by this post. He knows and so does the starter and that's really all that matters.

Mitch has nfl starting experience, taken most of his reps at camp with the 1st team and started every preseason game. Then throw in how unimpressive the O-line is currently I lean to mitch is the starter so pickett can hone his craft to be the future qb down the line. But I haven't been able to figure out tomlins logic on many things so who knows. I do know I'm thankful we got what looks to be 2 good options should one fail or get hurt. Even more happy they both have excellent mobility because they're going to need it especially if we they struggle to establish the run game allowing opposing defenses to just pin their ears back and crush our qb. That's my 2 cents

Kenny should be starting but I believe they probably told Mitch when he signed that he was the starter and are trying to honor that. I’m sure that was what Mitch was looking for when deciding where to sign.

Even if Mitch is awful tomorrow I would still give him the start next week against the Pats. It probably wouldn't be a good idea to have Pickett's first NFL start against a Bill Belichick defense. I think Kenny's first NFL start will be against the Jets after the 10 day mini bye after the Browns game.

I doubt that is a factor. I certainly hope it isn't. I think it is more a matter of taking their time with Pickett, which is also why it seemed as if they kept the training wheels on during the exhibition games.

If anyone views this standpoint illogical I get it. Gulp. I just watched the same OL that protected Pickett all last year allow two QBs to get injured. The OL was so awful at any form [f blocking they was using 7 OL sets on every down late in the 4th Q and only passed the ball when they were forced to. If Kenny was able to work his magic behind that OL and be a Heisman, then surely he can start behind the Steelers OL and just be fine.

They weren't that bad most of last season, but today definitely showed how overrated that group was all along. I don't think most people realized just how much of that team's success was the greatness of Pickett and Addison.

It's a tactic to not name. Everyone knows but Tomlin is saying why say it until I need to. It's all just a bit silly.
