Still not named..WHY? Why hasn't Tomlin named one. This is really quite stupid now!

Does he truly not know yet who the starting QB is? And if he truly doesn't know yet, I'd say we're in trouble...

And I'm also thinking this can't bode well for any of the QB's!

IMO Popcorn should just go ahead and name Pickett the Starter! EVERY single media outlet ,local and national are clamoring for Pickett...So go ahead and name him the starter then...

Trubisky was/is set up for failure... He'll have to go 4-1, 5-1 to keep the job minimum, against a brutal early schedule, If he IS named the Starter...

I don't think anyone can play under that kind of pressure, playing tight, knowing EVERYONE wants the " other " Guy...a bad game , and hearing the boos...

Even the few I have heard endorsing Trubisky, still only did it half heartedly saying " Trubisky will start , But Pickett will take over 3-4 games in "...

3-4 games in lol...Just start Pickett and be done with it then, get him the experience...Just another in your long list of incompetent moves Popcorn!

I'm assuming he knows who the starter is and so does the starter. My pedestrian guess as to why no announcement is maybe just to hold that card for a little longer to affect the prep by the Bengals. Not sure it would make any difference to them but that's all I can come up with.

I think it's just getting silly at this point...I can't see how any of the QB's can be happy with this

He never had to do this before and is probably just having some fun with it.
and maybe he wants to see how much more Pickett can improve in the next two weeks, even though he already knows Mitch will be the starter.

Coaches play these games all the time. They aren't giving any information away until it is necessary. I am sure they know who will start. I've been saying since Sunday that playing Trubisky the entire first half made it very clear that Trubisky will start.

Also, who cares what the media wants? I am sure that is not part of the decision-making process, nor should it be.

You seriously don't know that coaches play games with naming a starter when it is feasibly in doubt? What league have you been watching?

Because it is almost 2 weeks away. Why does he need to let you know, when it is going to give cincy better to prepare on?

Do you know for certain, 100%, without a shadow of a doubt that he has not told the starter he's the guy? If your answer is no, then I would relax. You'll know soon enough. Could this be sticking in your craw so much because of your obvious dislike for Tomlin? Belicheck would pull this sh!t all the time. Would you lose your mud if he did it?

If I understand this, you’re mad that MT hasn’t come out and said that Mitch is the starter. Maybe because the answer is obvious. The Head Coaches of Burrow, Allen, Mahomes,Rodgers, Herbert, Prescott, Stafford and many other haven’t made a press statement about their starters either.

FFS Disco. Why should he announce it so the Bengals know who to prepare for? How does that benefit anyone other than your impatience?

I'd do the same thing if I was Tomlin

    No rush in announcing it.

Everyone knows its gonna be Mitch to start he's not fooling anyone. But, keep them all guessing... long as you can

Its a tale old as time with football coaches. Keep them guessing.

I’m sure the QBs know who the Week 1 starter is. Just because it hasn’t been stated publicly doesn’t mean that the QBs are in the dark.

Scene: KC Chiefs Media Room, Full of breathless sports media hacks waiting for major presser from Andy Reid. The press crowd is quiet as Coach Reid approaches the podium.

finally Coach Reid clears his throat and speaks. “Today, I want to announce that Patrick Mahomes will be the starting QB on opening day. Any questions?”

    Surprisingly, there are none.

Well chit, I was expecting Chad Henne to get the start. Damn. PS: I had to look up the KC QB depth chart because I had no earthly idea who was behind Mahomes. And BTW, who TF is Shane Buechele???
