Had the Steelers not picked Pickett at #20, which team would have likely drafted him? Would he have lasted into the second round?

Carolina, Atlanta or even Washington if they had chose to trade back into Round 1 would be my guesses. Outside of them? No one else really.

At which case, the Steelers likely would have chosen Willis had that been the case.

I think he'd have dropped to the 3rd round. It seems for the first time in draft history no one bit on the QB urge.

I think 1988 was the last time a QB wasn’t taken in the first rd.

This is the narrative I keep seeing on this board, but it doesn't make sense. Just because other players at a position fell doesn't mean every player at a position falls.

Dude I hate to be this guy, but you need to stop doing whatever has damaged your brain. He would have not made it passed those 3 teams in the second.

Some of Y'all don't understand the drop off from Pickett to the rest of quarterbacks.

Was Mike Vick more athletic then Ben? Yes
Who ended up having the better career? Ben did!
We got a guy that no one thought would fall to us. We thought we had a chance at Willis as a second choice. I'd rather have a Burrow like then Jackson.

I’m thinking worst case for Pickett, someone would have picked him late in the first to get that fifth year option.

I really don't think that 5th year option is that big a thing. Most good players are demanding pay before a 5th year, and the bad players...Well who cares if You have a 5 th year option on. Hell it has helped the Browns really well....LoL...because of the 5th year option they are stuck with Mayfields pay....even though they brought someone else in.

I would say 2nd to 3rd....I don't feel anyone was trading up for him in the first.

I still think he's the first QB taken and some team probably trades up to get him. To me he was the most NFL ready QB in this years draft. I can't believe there are actual Steeler fans out there that seemingly hope he fails.

Because people notice the steelers were the only ones in love with him partially due to him being in their backyard. Other teams had multiple chances to take him and didn't and everyone knew the steelers wanted him. They could've jumped the steelers if they wanted to

It's a drop off between him and willis but Pickett wasn't high to begin with. That's why several qb needy teams passed on him. He wasn't looked at as a can't miss qb prospect. Just the arguable best of a very weak qb class.Mac Jones was the 5th best ranked qb by many last yr and he would've been by far number 1 this yr. That's how bad it was.

I don't think any REAL Steelers fan wants 2 see Him fail.
I think Lamar Jackson sucks, but if He was a Steeler ....I wouldn't want Him 2 fail.

Damn. You're already in mid season form again this offseason. That makes it like 5 years in a row now. I guess we should have traded half our team for Joe Burrow.:hmm:

He was not high ranked to begin with? He was ranked a top 15 QB.

Failclowns are idiots for taking a WR at the start. Yes they lost a lot of WR for multiple reasons, but they just lost their QB. Marriotta is about to go over a lot of their heads and ridder is a project that is at best a backup when he is finished. Not dating Atlanta won't start him. But almost every team in the league wouldn't give riddger the chance.

Only Pickett has the chance to be starting as a QB. The rest were needing to be trained on how to beat backup.

It was a joke. Steelers are in good hands with Trubisky and Pickett.

What do you mean a top 15 ranked qb? If you're trying to say of this draft then that doesn't mean anything. This draft was terrible for qbs. Being the best out of trash isn't saying too much.

Atlanta is waiting for next yr like the Seahawks, panthers, lions(even though they took willis in the 3rd), Texans, Washington possibly, etc.. for next yr when there's 2 can't miss prospects that are likely going 1 and 2 in the draft. They weren't going to take Pickett just because he was the best of a garbage class. Yes he's ready to start but his ceiling is looked at as low and he probably won't bust but they don't think he'll be great either. Like I said Mac Jones was the 5th best qb last yr and he'd by far be the best this yr.
