Nice d scheme there. We play them 2 times a year and we have no idea how to stop qb zone read. GEESH looked like idiots out there. Add lack of effort tackling and what a crapshow.

They always defend LJ very well but my guess is they were so worried about Henry this game they came up with a new scheme that they thought would work on Henry and LJ and didn’t work on either. Colossal failure.

My one and only beef with Watt is that sometimes he tries to play to much "hero" ball, and guesses instead of reading and reacting. Don't get me wrong, I love it when it results in a TFL or even a turnover. On a better defense that works fine, but we don't have the guys to back him up when it doesn't work.

I think this was a hint that Watts ankle injury against the Eagles was worse than they let on.

Usually we charge the mesh point and make the read difficult for Lamar. Watt was also good at making it look like he was closer to the back but still recover and get a TFL on the QB. Not everytime, sometimes they got a big run, but enough that running the play risked putting them way behind the sticks. They didn't do that because Watt couldn't do that.

That could be part of it, but the plan was stupid. They had the outside linebackers crash on Henry with either a safety or the inside linebacker to that side taking Jackson. That is a terrible matchup for either of those players and they mostly failed. Henry had the monster game, but it was Jackson's running that sparked the Ravens. The Steelers were slow and sloppy on defense, rarely having the first guy make a clean tackle. That is why I doubt any scheme would have worked, but damn, the one the came up with was stupid.

And they had no plan B if plan A failed. Disastrous coaching that made the players look bad.

They know how to defend Lamar, why they changed it makes no sense. If Lamar keeps the ball TJ or Alex should have been there hammering him. Hit him on every play. After about 5-8 good shots, I will guarantee where the ball will be, in Henry's hands. Also the OC with Baltimore would see Lamar getting pounded and will stop getting his QB killed. I dont get why they tried to fix what wasnt broken,....oh wait, I do know why.....cause Mike T is the smartest coach in the room.....
