We could be gearing up for a possible switch to a 4-3 Defense. We've got the beef on the D-line and with Woodley and Timmons and Worlid/Jones as the LB's we could be decent as a 4-3 team.

if we went 4-3 Woodley would be a de as would worilds. Jones may have the speed to play olb in the 4-3. Your 4-3 olbs have to be quick and good is pass coverage since they are lined up behind the line and not on it. This is why Harrison will do nothing in cincy

The Steelers don't have the personnel at DE to be an effective 4-3 defense. I don't see why the Steelers should switch to be a decent 4-3 defense after all the success they've had being a top notch 3-4 defense.

That's the last thing we need is to switch from a 3-4 to a 4-3. Our offense is already going through a transition and now someone wants the Defense to do the same. Plus we just don't have the personnel. We don't have the "Freeney, Mathis type" defensive ends. We just drafted a 3-4 OLB and a 3-4 Defensive end.

As long as Lebeau is still there I don't see us switching. Personally I hope we don't . I think the 3-4 with the right personnel is better than the 4-3. I know alot of teams are now switching to the 3-4 and it makes it hard to find those type of OLB we need for our defense to run properly. But with the additions we made hopefully we will see the benefit of good outside linebackers that make our defense run smoothly.

You are removing 20% of Smiths career to drop him to a level approaching that of hood, and worst yet, this is only sacks we're referring to. Out of 19 3-4 DE hood placed 18th in run support.

I really don't won't to compare hood to Smith, it's pointless and we all know it.

Also everyone seems to keep saying Hood has been solid... No he hasn't!! He's been out starter and very inconsistant. Flashes of talent but also disappointment. There's an article on Bleacher report and another on steelers depot. Maybe even the trib. I saw them on my phone while at work. I'll see if I can find and then link them.

    Edit: I found one
