I hear ya. Love the stuff. It was great when the local news in Columbus was showing the first Yuengling truck making its delivery early in the morning. Billboards were all over town and everything.

Heck yeah, it was a staple in my youth. I grew up a stones throw from the PA/NY border, and my buddy's family owned a rural tavern about 10 miles inside of PA. Before hours, they'd let us play pool and enjoy the Yuengling on draft. I always thought it was a national beer, but was shocked when I found out you couldn't get it 5 minutes over the border. I think they started selling it in NY in the late '90s. I could be wrong about that though.

How long ago did it become available in OH?

It's definitely in NY. I had been buying it there for the past 5-6 years.

I miss it now that I'm in Vermont.

Still, there's nothing like an IC!

Not 100% sure, but I know it became available here in the northeast (canton) October 3rd.

I live and grew up a stone's throw from the Yuengling brewery.

It's not bad. But not anything special to me. It's my fallback beer. If they don't have what I want, I'll get a "lager."

It's certainly miles and miles better than Bud/Miller/Coors. and it's much better draft than bottled. By FAR.

How do they determine what a years supply of Guinness would be? :hmmm: Seems it would depend on the recipient. :-D :drinks:

No idea, but if it was a blank check, I'd try to put them out of business.

lol, I think it's the equivalent of one a day. I think he can stock pile them so he can either go in and have one free beer a day or wait to the weekend and have a bunch free, something like that. :yahoo:

Goota love a thread about brew!

Only enjoyed Yuengling once, down in Florida while on vacation. Wasn't anythign special, but like someone else stated, leagues ahead of the mass-produced stuff like Bud and Miller. We don't get Yuengling out in Montana, but we do have some seriously good microbrews!

Never understood why yinz were so selfish, and had to keep that good brew in the burgh! ;-)
I have been rejoicing, for the last month, that I can buy a REAL beer, at the same price as Bud, instead of drinking Miller, or Busch light, for a couple bucks less per 12 pack :clapping:
I usually go quantity over quality, but that`s only because Budweiser isnt worth paying a couple bucks more a pack for...
    Yuengling is worth every penny!
Sooooo glad I don`t have to drive 2 hours across the border to get it anymore...
Thank you PA... for giving me my favorite beer to drink while I watch my favorite team, now!!!
    :yahoo: :rawk: :drinks:
    P.S.
On a side note,a friend who works at a drive thru, told me his beer distributer told him, they have NEVER seen a new product(the Four Lokos Malt beverages, the other Microbrews, or other Imported beers, etc...) just come in and absolutely CRUSH the local competition, like Yuengling has...
Reportedly, Budweiser has even seen over a 20 percent drop in sales...
And they are not marketing it on TV, or over the radio, here...
The only ads I have seen for it are fliers at the bars/grocery stores/ drive thrus.
I guess it`s true that all you have to do to succeed is put out a good product, at a fair price! :)

I like microbrews so I can't stand Yuengling. It's one of the beers (along with Bud anything, Coors anything including Blue Moon and Miller anything) that I won't even drink when it's free. We had happy hour at work last week and they had Yuengling, Blue Moon Pumpkin and Millet Lite. I drank red whine.

I live in Delaware so I'm trying to get them to bring in some Dogfish Head, Twin Lakes and some stuff from Iron Hill Brewery which recently won an award at the Great American Beer Fest in Colorado.

Great Lakes makes good beer too. Dortmunder Gold is really good. They also make a good porter. Edmond Fitzgerald I believe is the name. Yeah that's it (just checked). Good stuff!

I guess Yuengling is OK. Ever since the Busch family sold out, I'm not a fan of the King of Beers anymore. Isn't Yuengling the oldest brewery in America?

Yes, Yuengling is officially recognized as the oldest continuously operated brewery.. 178 years and still going strong!
(says so right on the can I`m looking at :) )
And, CantonSteel, yes, I like the Great lakes brews, also... Drink a lot of Edmund Fitzgerald, when I watch the Akron Aeros, at Canal Park...
Can`t usually afford the "microbrews", but if I`m out n about doing somethin special, yeah... They are good.
ScottChab.. You ever try IPA beers? (may be wrong on the name, they are distributed by "Cavalier Distributers", though)
I believe that is the name of a small brewery in California, that makes "Arrogant Bastard", and "Stone Porter", and a few others that I don`t recall the names of, which are VERY good!
There is also a brewery with "Rogue", in their name that makes several good beers, the one I specifically remember is "Rogue Hazelnut"... AWESOME flavor... They also make a decent whiskey, with their name on the bottle...
Knox... Yeah, I couldn`t believe Anhaesur Bush(sp?) sold themselves to some company in Norway, or Sweden, or something like that...
    Bleaahhh...
But Budweiser has started putting new Posters up at the stores and drive thrus, here, with a Big Logo of the state of Ohio, saying "brewed in Ohio"...
LOL! Guess they felt the need to remind us of that, so maybe we wouldn`t be traitors to our "local"(foriegn owned), beer, like we are to their football teams!!! LMAO!!! :herewego:
    GO STEELERS!

I bought a 12 pack of the lager on the way home from work on Oct 3rd. I have been waiting for years for Yuengling to come to Ohio. I would have to say it is my new "go-to" beer.
