Don't you mean as you have mentioned at every single possible moment? I'm pretty sure everyone on this board is fully aware of your opinion that our FO and Coaches don't know what they're doing.

The proof's in the pudding. We've been under .500 for a decade now, and they keep turning top 10 picks into poop.... oh wait, that's not us. Never mind!

Mike, I think pay cuts for both of those guys are a good approach (if they'll negotiate), but I would not even consider restructuring their contracts. Restructuring doesn't reduce any of the contract dollars, it just converts 2013 salary into a bonus that gets spread out over the remaining years of the contract for cap purposes. If you end up cutting a guy whose contract has been restructured, you have an even larger dead money hit. That's why we only restructure the contracts of guys who we are pretty certain will be around through the end of their current contracts - and in many cases beyond (so far Ben, AB and Timmons - and possibly Woodley soon).

I think some of the positions above can be filled really easily just be resigning some guys who are okay players or who can fill a role with the team.

I also think at least 5 or 6 will make the team from the draft. Unfortunately I think the draft needs to focus on offense from the need perspective, but I think the draft is better on the D side of the ball.

For instance, I think we can do the following:

DLine: Hood, Heyward, Keisel, Woods, Fangupo, Ta'amu, McLendon
OLB: Woodley, Worilds, Carter, Robinson, DRAFT PICK
ILB: FOOTE, Timmons, DRAFT PICK, SYLVESTER
CB: Ike, Allen, Gay, Brown, LEWIS
S: Troy P., Clark, Golden, DRAFT PICK

If those draft picks are all in the top 3 or 4 rounds, those guys should be able to dress and contribute on gameday.

It is harder to do that on the offensive side of the ball. Why? Because we need skill guys who can contribute right away, and those guys are hard to find at some of those positions....at least the way we operate.

Will Allen - should be easy to resign to a cap friendly 2 year deal

Charlie Batch - I would choose Byron over Charlie at this point...based purely on age...but either one is fine

Plaxico Burress - Burress is my plan 1B

Larry Foote - Would sign only if its a 1 year cap friendly deal

    Ramon Foster - Resigned

Casey Hampton - GONE I would bring back Casey as long as he realizes his worth. I know he wants to play a few more years..but he has to understand he is not worth top dollar at this point in his career

    Brandon Johnson - I like Johnson...can back up all 4 LB spots...sign.

David Johnson - GONE (resigned...but I still cut in camp)

    Byron Leftwhich - See CHARLIE

Doug Legursky - solid if unspectacular inside OL...keep

    Justin King - GONE

Keenan Lewis - If we had not kept William Gay for as long as we did we might have a better idea of what we truly have in Lewis....but because we only have 1 year to go off of....I reluctantly let him walk vs paying him what it appears it will take to keep him.

    Rashard Mendenhall - GONE

    Ryan Mundy - GONE

    Leonard Pope - GONE

Max Starks - ALMOST GONE Love me some Max...but it appears he wants to go somewhere else...that being said...if he is willing I resign

    Mike Wallace - GONE

Greg Warren - While I am ready to move on..I like Greg...but if I can find a younger cheaper solution...I do it.

    Restricted
    Jonathan Dwyer - tender
    Jerermy Kapino - tender
    Isaac Redman - tender
    Stevenson Sylvester - GONE
Emmanual Sanders - Sign to top tender

    Outside FA
Rolando McClain - Raiders are clearly trying to stick it to McClain everyway that they can...the have no intention of keeping him...but will until they can be sure the market is dry....which actually helps the Steelers bring him in cheap. Sprinkle him in year 1...unless he just beats out Foote...in which case Foote is the #1 backup to both inside spots.

Beanie Wells - 2 year deal.

    Ramses Barden - Big leaper

Matt Spaeth - One of the better blocking TE's ...bring him home before he signs in AZ.

Draft.....the 49ers have 15 picks....and I am guessing they want to move some with as hard as they are hitting FA..they really have no room for 15 players....maybe they use some of those picks for Revis...maybe they are going to sign Asomugha maybe not...for this mock I am saying they have a guy at 17 they want....

    Trade with 49ers - trading 1.17 to 49ers for 1.31, 2.64 3.79 - This trade puts the Steelers up by about 150 points...the 49ers 1 and 2 thirds are almost equal...but I am staying with the 1,2,3 for this.

    1. 31 - (from 49ers) - CB/FS David Amerson
    2. 48 - OL Barrett Jones
    2. 62 - (from 49ers) - DE Margus Hunt
    3. 79 - CB/S Tyrann Mathieu
    3. 93 - (49ers) WR/KR Marquis Goodwin
    4.112 - LB Zavier Gooden
    5.143 - RB Kenjon Barner
    6.176 - OT Reid Fragel
    7.207 - OLB Stansly Maponga
7.240 - SS Ray Ray Armstrong

    2013 53 man

    3 - QB - Ben, Gradkowski, Batch
5 - RB/FB - Wells, Dwyer, Redman, Barner, Will Johnson
    3 - TE - Miller, Paulson, Spaeth
9 - OL - Adams, Jones, Pouncey, DeCastro, Gilbert, Beachum, Foster, Legursky, Fragel
6 - WR - Brown, Burress, Sanders, Goodwin, Barden, Cotchery

    26 O

6 - DL - McClendon, Hood, Keisel, Hunt, Ta'amu, Heyward
8 - LB - Woodley, McClain, Timmons, Worilds, Carter, Foote, Johnson, Gooden (Spence IR for year two unless they think he is ready to go)
6 - CB - Ike, C.Allen, Gay, Amerson, Brown, Van Dyke
    4 - S - Troy, Clark, Mathieu, Allen

    24 D

    LS - Warren
    K - Suisham
    p - Butler

I'm not expecting much out of this group next season, I would put what ever cash that we have left away for next year, dump some more vets next year so we can really get under the cap..
I've had enough of these welfare scab players coming in for nothing, and doing nothing. We need real talent.
