That can only happen if Banner is resigned. If not, both Offensive Tackle and Offensive Center are top priority.

I think the Steelers will make a big push to bring Bud back. You saw how important he was to the defense when he went down. He’s finally the guy they thought they were drafting. They are going to try, depends on Bud if he works with them.

We have absolutely no idea if Highsmith can replace Bud in the limited games he’s had. He has a long way to go to reach Buds level of play.

If they somehow bring Bud back, that would be tremendous in terms of attempting one final go for a push for a Lombardi. That said, it will take a miracle on both sides. T.J. Watt is still due a major payday; doubly so given his likelihood of winning DPOY.

Guess I should’ve clarified that better as far as how we need to draft. Those are the positions I feel like we need in the first four rounds, not necessarily in the order that I posted.

Who’s retiring? Either way I don’t care cut or retired as long as they’re gone.

Blast I know you have been beating the drum for Bud, but common, the level of Bud? His first 4 years were mediocre then magically he started producing. Maybe because he got some big money?

Hightsmith for a rookie came in and filled the spot quite admirably learning on the fly as a full time starter. The kid will only get better. And I believe he won't take as long to show major results. And will only have a cap hit at $1,022,591 for 2021.

To pin the defenses fall out with the lose of Dupree?

Plus the fact who knows what his status will be with the injury.

He is looking for a payday and the Steelers are not going to ante up to to retain him this time and franchising to me is out of the question.

They have far to many other pressing needs.

Dupree will go elsewhere and hopefully for him he has a stud on the other side.

Huge mistake. Bud feasted on the attention the rest of the line got, racked up most sacks unblocked of after the QB scrambled around. He doesn't routinely beat his man, like Watt does. Some team will overpay for him and be disppointed.

Fortunately, that won't be the Steelers. They already have his replacement and can't afford Bud in 2021. Highsmith as a rookie is far ahead of where Bud was. He already has three pass rush moves, two more than Bud.

    FWIW, PFF grades for 2020:

    Watt: 91.6
    Bud: 60.2
    Highsmith: 72.0

Yes, time to let Bud go, I feel bad for him with that injury. He would have gotten a real nice deal somewhere, not so sure now. Highsmith will be a good player but they really need to look at depth behind him and TJ.

Yep time to see what Mason can do.. I think we need to trade Tomlin Watt or both this draft has some great talent on the OL and at RB early we really need 4 guys in 2 rounds.. Time to move back to our style of play get some great RB'S and use PA this will also allow us to draft any style of QB and it tells us we need to Draft 1 cut runners and not Dancers...I think Snell may be above average behind a power blocking scheme and would be a nice #2 or fill in for a game or 2...Mcfarland would be better behind a power scheme as well pull the Guard on trap RB get in his pocket then cut off his block..

The zone scheme require RB'S to read the entire OL and then find a crease and the power scheme tells u where the hole is at or who to follow into the hole..Simple Football should be much better at short yardage..

The money excuse doesn’t wash, people pinned his good season on being in a contract year and then he went out and backed it up again. His first 4 years are irrelevant, the fact that he is playing great football now is all that matters.

I like Highsmith, wrote about him after the draft and his potential but at this point, that’s all it is, potential.

I know what I saw with my own eyes, defense play suffered greatly when Bud went down. Teams could focus on Watt and it showed and had a trickle down affect.

The only reason not to bring back Bud is if they simply can’t afford him but the Steelers aren’t in the habit of letting their top players go without trying to bring them back. That and whatever the statistics are on players level of play after coming back from his injury at his position.
