The real test will be game time. But we have faith.

I had a huge tutorial written, but I realized that it was way too tough and overkill. Go here and get TuneIn. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tunein.player&hl=en

It's similar to iHeart, but there don't seem to be restrictions on listening to games. I was just listening to the Patriots game on a Boston station. I can find a channel for you if you have trouble. If this doesn't work, I can give you long, and potentially confusing instructions to get around mobile listening restrictions.

I can't give a specific channel right now, because I haven't tested it during a Steelers game. Sites that are hooked up with iHeart for live listening will not likely work using that method.

Here is a site, albeit an outdated one, that lists radio feeds of games that stream online.

    http://www.freefootballradio.com/nfl.html

Click on Pittsburgh, and it shows a long list of stations. Some of these don't broadcast games to my knowledge, and some are iheart now, but some still do it the ole' fashioned way. :smiley1:

There may be a paid app that gives easy access to live game broadcasts. I'm not sure about that.

I'll go ahead and post the more complicated method here-

This assumes you are using an android device and that you are comfortable installing apps and tweaking settings. I tested this on my non-rooted Nexus 7 running Ice Cream Sandwich 4.3 with no problems. The purpose of this is to a) visit sites and not be restricted to mobile only content and b) be able to view Flash based web content on your android device. YMMV.

First- go to the Play Store and download the Firefox Beta mobile browser. I tried a few browsers, but this one was the only successful one. Dolphin HD may work for you, but it didn't for me.

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.mozilla.firefox_beta&hl=en

There are some adjustments that need to be made in Firefox, but we'll come back to that.

Second- Visit this link and download/install the Flash apk on your android device. How you install apk files is up to you and outside the scope of this article. *Note- flash is no longer updated or supported for mobile devices by Adobe, but is still available for download and by many accounts runs flawlessy for many people, but does not work on Chrome.

    http://click.xda-developers.com/api...ayer_ics.apk&jsonp=vglnk_jsonp_13772642366747

Once flash is installed, go back to Firefox beta. Go to the menu>Tools>Addons. Tap the orange icon in the top right corner to browse new add ons. Search for "Phony" and add it. This step might be optional, but I did it in my testing.

Now, go to Menu>Settings>Plugins and select either Enabled or Tap to play. Lastly, visit a site, any site, and Go to Menu>Phony>Select User Agent. You may have to play around with this. I chose Desktop Firefox, but I think Chrome worked, too.

If you're still with me after that, you should now be able to browse sites and a)not be restricted to mobile content b)be able to view Flash based content ie. streaming audio and videos. If you have Amazon Prime- you can watch those videos without an Amazon device now. This isn't fool proof and may not work for every flash based object you're trying to enjoy.

Good luck and have fun. :smiley1:

One thing is for sure. I'll have to bring my charger to work on Sundays. :)

A single half of football used up most of my battery. Maybe because I also had a gamecast up.

I only have like 5gb of data. I don't really understand how that works. When I listen to like WDVE pregame and postgame does that use up "data"? and also when I watch a you tube vid or something does that use it too? If I'm at home it works off my router right? Does like streaming Netflix or HBO GO use up that data and what happens if I use all of it? They didn't really explain that and I don't really understand it. I've just got a phone that does all that stuff. It's called an "axiom".

When you're on your router, you are not using any of your data plan.

When not on a router, and usjng your 4g or whatever you happen to have for wi-fi on your phone, then you are using it. Youtube vids can add up quickly. I don't think the radio app used very much data last night. 5 gigs on your plan is a decent amount. Just keep track of your use for a month or 2. as long as you don't go nuts with vids you should be safe.

So what happens if I use all the gigs? Do you get charged extra or something?

Depends on your provider. But I "believe" the usual standard is like $10 per gig over your plan.

ETA: As I said before, keep track of how much data you're using for the first month or 2 to get a feel for how your habits affect your usage. I get less than you (3 gigs per month... or so I'm told by my wife who may or may not be sand bagging me ;)) I browse forums, facebook, and twitter 2-3 times a day. I'll read newspaper articles daily over my phone. I'll even watch 2-3 youtube vids per day 5-6 days a week.

    I've never once gone over.

BUT, as I've said before, video is what can sneak up on you. As an experiment, I watched an episode of Game of Thrones on HBO Go on my phone. Almost a full gig for a one hour show! While at the in-laws in July, boredom had me watching more youtube than usual, and I pushed my limit that month.

The radio apps don't appear to use much data. At least not if you're only using them once a week for a game. A couple hours daily? It might add up.

If you're going to download an app, ESPECIALLY a game, do it while on your router. If you want to watch HBO, best done on a router also.

OR jump on an unlimited plan the first chance you get. ;)

Ok. Thanks for that. Today I was asking somebody at work about it and they said 5gb is plenty and that the thing that REALLY sucks in to the data is social media sites like posting on twitter and facebook and "instagram" whatever the crap that actually is. LOL.

By far- streaming video, playing games, and streaming music are your top data consumers as a rule. Use wifi whenever possible and track your data consumption. There's an app for that. :smiley1:

Dang dude since I got that phone I've listened to a whole album on youtube and also listened to quite a few songs. You think I could be in trouble already? Also how do I get that app you're talking about? Like what do I type in I mean.

No idea really, but if you search the play store for "data usage" or something similar, you'll see some apps for keeping track of that. I have no experience with those personally so I can't recommend any.
